Posted on Billy Ward's website, Mark Craney passed away this morning, Nov 26th.
What a terrible loss for the drumming community.
My prayers go out to the Craney family.

Man, I had no idea he was ill! I only know his playing from brother to brother ( a fantastic album I need to get hold of again ) and what incredible groove he had. 'The river must flow' anyone? Beautiful drumming and a true inspiration to me in the past.

I'm sorry to learn this. He was an inspiring player. I remember hearing Brother To Brother for the first time. Wow! My condolences to his friends and family.

That is really really sad. I met Mark a couple of times when I used to study with Bissonett, when they lived together in Woodland Hills. Nice guy. Felt really bad for him when he contracted his problem. Saw him a couple of years later at a jam, he was 1/2 the man he was before.
My favorite memories of him drumming were with Jethro Tulls band during the "A" for Anderson tour. Actually... that was my favorite "Tull" line up ever. They just tore the material up with alot of musicality.
Rest in peace dear brother Mark. You will be missed.

That sucks. His performance on Jean Luc Ponty's "Imaginary Voyage" was very inspirational to me early on. I knew he was ill, but not that it was that bad. Rest in Peace.
