We all do it (right) but how come...

As i sit here at the end of 3rd block in the library, I attempt to sneakily look at this hostboard, like anyone cares anyways, but just in case. To my diagonal are some underclassmen boys talking about video games, swooning over pics on the internet, I'm sure.

Just had to note this. Oh, and did you know ebay is restricted at our school on the computers? probably so nobody tries to buy something without permission, but I wanted to check on this certain auction.

*Sigh. When will dolls ever be as acceptable as video games? ... Ash. = )

Ebay and the AG site are restricted at the school I work at also. It's really annoying, but the kids really shouldn't be buying stuff off the internet.

It took me a year to fess up to my boyfriend that I wasn't checking email or eBay all the time, but that I was a member of a doll message board. Don't know why I couldn't do it before - it actually made him think I was less crazy since I'm part of a community, not just hoarding dolls by myself. I think he's actually jealous now. [img]wink.gif[/img]

Of course, I still wouldn't risk checking HB on a public computer on campus. Sigh...

I just told my dh that I was going to sell Marisol and that Addy was on the way. He gave me a hard time for selling her so soon, but I told him that Kailey, who has been retired longer, is selling for less than Marisol is selling right now.

He started giving me a hard time and said that it bothered him that I called them by their names, like they are real people.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I view here on public computers all the time! Maybe I have no shame but I think it would be funny if someone looks at the history and sees I was at a doll board. I also have no problem using it in plain view at the library.

DH started up with me earlier this year, just before my dad got sick and after I got back from England. Started a whole line about how AG drove a wedge between us. What? At the time, I had two dolls and as most of you know, he works overseas. I think he was hot because I took the dolls to London and ? OH NO ? TOOK PICTURES of them. Like I care what people think. He wasn?t even IN London with me at the time.

In a second phone call, when I had calmed down a bit, I told him that if he needed to be that immature, maybe he should just STAY in the Middle East. You get my drift.

When he came home a couple of months later, just before Daddy passed away, he was different. (My sister said she has noticed her DH is a bit different now, too. Neither one of our DH?s has had to lose a parent yet and maybe that makes a difference to men when it?s the father? Don?t know.) He started asking about their stories and why I loved them so much. Then he found out Daddy bought me Molly?s bike. That really changed his tune. I also told him that I wasn?t able to afford dolls like these when I was little (if they had even had them then!) and that since I could now, why not? Wouldn?t he feel better if he knew I was home alone on a Friday night, making albums and talking to you all, than wondering WHO ELSE I might be out with? (Not that I would, but you see what I mean.) He commented that the dolls were actually very nice, and he was impressed with the detail and the quality. He said that if he were a girl, he?d probably really want them too. You should have seen the effort he put in to fixing my Weekend Baking mixer! DH has also said that he thought the whole thing was weird at first ? until he realized there was a whole board of people just like me, so maybe in the States it WASN?T so weird after all. [img]wink.gif[/img]

When he bought Olivia for me, and I told him I planned to name her Olivia Grace, he said there was no way I could give the girl (yes, he said GIRL) the initials OGB. I must have looked confused, because he looked at me like, duh, and said our last name. [img]eek.gif[/img]

So I guess he really HAS changed where AG is concerned!

If my boss can read cricket stats and check game times for UNC-Chapel Hill, and my cubemate can surf eBay, why not Message Board?

Just to clear the air...the hostboard site IS allowed access (I know this since it would have had a Warning page pop-up that it was a restricted site--such as ebay) but I was only afraid of people glancing at my screen to find pics of dolls and dolls.
* I did not mean to say that I was trying to break a rule, only one of society standards for what girls my age should be into, such as tanning, and the lot of it. Ash.
I shouldn't be embarrassed but you never know when someone might be looking and what they'd do..

I keep telling myself as long as I don't start taking my girls on potty breaks... I am perfectly sane and sociably acceptable.

I'll view this board anywhere and everywhere... I really have no shame! (Then again I'll carry my dolls around too)
