Yes?
Well, it started badly and got steadily worse.
First off, I had a very painful rectal situation going on this morning (too much info I know but you did ask! lol) and sitting on those midget hard chairs that they have in school did me no favours whatsoever.
Secondly, the little darling that I support tried to play me up but, as I was in the throes on a VPRS (see above), I was having none of it.
Thirdly, when I got home at 12:15, my eldest (who has an Academic Review Day) was still in bed, having made something to eat and gone back upstairs with it, leaving the kitchen looking like a bomb had hit it - butter out of the fridge and melting; plates strewn over the worktop; buttery knives in the sink etc. etc. You get the picture?
Forthly, I had to find his interim report to take to school with us this afternoon so I had to trawl through 2 carrier bags of assorted papers (aka 'crap') and a pile *ouch - must'nt say that* of paper as tall as a fully grown giraffe before I found it (also having had a very irate phone call with Mike about his hoarding 'illness').
Fifthly, when me and AJ got to his school, it was a veritable tale of woe. The usual things reared their ugly head - homework not being done/completed on time or to an acceptable standard, classwork unacceptable, general laziness and lackadaisical attitude to schoolwork......
Gah! I went ballistic and ended up simultaneously crying; shouting; hugging him and telling him how much I love him but how disappointed I am with him; going back to shouting again......
Kids! Who'd have them?
Sooooo - I've ended up ringing mother-in-law and scrounging half a bottle of gin from her. Should be an interesting evening.

Awwwwwwww hun
Firstly I hope the pain in your nether regions gets better quickly - sounds very painful
Secondly I can sympathise with you about the mess in the kitchen. I came downstairs thismorning to find something very sticky all over the floor which I then had to thoroughly scrub to get it clean again, chocolate corn flakes strewn all over the work surfaces and piles of dirty plates, cutlery etc in the sink!
Apart from having the car broken into, we also had the central heating go wrong and last week it cost us ?200 to fix it!
Oh and we have some ghastly neighbours whose moron of a son keeps bullying Robbie and it ended up with a very heated argument on our doorstep, me shaking with rage at his father and Alan almost wanting to slap him one!
Not to mention the endless builders vans which keep on parking across my drive and me having to perform some tricky manoeuvre to actually get out of my drive every morning.
I hope the bottle of gin does the trick hun and your evening is better than your day has been
Can I join you in that?

Thanks for your kind words everyone.
Unfortunately, the events of yesterday (mainly the ones concerning my son) have left me feeling very depressed atm. I couldn't face going to work this morning as I'm in totally the wrong frame of mind to be in the company of children and it just wouldn't be fair on them.
I just hope with all of my heart that Andrew can turn his situation around and buckle down to his school work or else I really fear for his future - education and career wise. His school do not take kindly to students that don't give 100% effort and I can see them getting very impatient with him, as am I. I wish I knew what I could do to help him, I really do.... Terry hun, I really am so sorry that you're so concerned about AJ atm. *hugs you*
I don't know about anyone else who has kids, particularly teenage boys, but I've found with Robbie that he can be the very devil to get him to do his homework properly etc etc. When he started secondary school last year, we were told that he had a perfectly good brain and he's very quick to learn new concepts which is different to Laura because she has always had to struggle to maintain her grades. The difference is she is very conscientious and it's taken years of hard work for her to get where she is now. She had all sorts of hearing and learning difficulties especially with subjects like Maths and Science when she was younger. It's her own determination to prove herself that's helped her in the long run. I have to say that she's very stressed atm with the impending A2 exams and needing to get a certain number of UCAS points to ensure her a place at Uni in September.
Anyway, back to Robbie. His first few consultations with his teachers at secondary school were a bit disappointing and they all said he was capable of much better grades. Last month we had another one of these and to be honest I was really dreading it. Actually he has started to buckle down and produce better work but they all said he could do much better in exams. I got him to revise properly for his last Maths exam and he actually managed to get the second highest mark in the class for it. He's pulled up in Science and History and his teachers say he's almost at GCSE level now and he's only in year 8! I thought about it and it occured to me that his improved grades only started when he began to win his golfing competitions. I think it's given him the confidence to believe in himself and that he can do well if he really tries and puts his mind to it. I have no illusions however, cos he's a lazy little devil sometimes and can't always be bothered to put the required effort in. I think an awful lot of younger teenage boys are like this and only start to realise they need to put the work in almost before it's too late.
I also think the schools do put an awful lot of pressure on the kids these days and I make a point of trying not to do that at home too, just try to encourage them a bit instead. Laura is severely stressed with all her work atm and is actually getting ill from it all. Tomorrow we are taking her to our GP for some blood tests for anaemia, glandular fever and an over-active thyroid gland. She's at the point of nearly passing out, especially in the afternoons, is constantly extremely tired and looks as white as a sheet. Some of her teachers were very concerned about her so we whisked her to our GP last week and he recommended the blood tests which she will have tomorrow morning.
Sometimes it's such a hard job being a parent but I think most of them turn out alright in the end and I don't think you need to worry too much about AJ cos from what you've told me he's a lovely lad and pretty clever too. I hope everything works out for you and AJ
I hope you don't feel too depressed about it all but I know it can be a real worry too.

Thanks Janie hun. Reading your post has helped cheer me up a bit, it really has. I do hope that you're right about him buckling down and producing better work b/c he's got his GCSE's this time next year and he'll need to sort himself out way before then....
What annoys me with him is that he's bloody brilliant at physics, biology etc (he regularly gets A*'s for his classwork and comes in the top 3 in tests and he also scored 91% in a recent maths test so I KNOW that he can do this). It's just a case of him realising it and building on it I suppose.
I hope & pray that he has a serious change of heart about this, starting from now.
