Do you know what the most common non-skin cancer is among men? Prostate cancer.

1 in 6 men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime. It's more prevalent than breast cancer (1 in 8).
The chances of getting prostate cancer are 1 in 3 if you have just one close relative (father, brother) with the disease.
African-American men are at increased risk. 1 in 4 will develop the disease, and they are 2.5 times more likely to die from the disease.

Prostate cancer is 99% curable if it's caught early.
Annual screening is recommended for all men over 50.
African-American men should be screened annually beginning at age 40.
All men should consider being screened to establish a baseline at age 40.

The Gillette Prostate Cancer Challenge and the National Prostate Cancer Coalition are providing a free prostate cancer screening event aboard the Drive Against Prostate Cancer, a mobile screening clinic.

No appointment is necessary.

Don't let your homophobic tendencies keep you from being healthy. I've been having my prostate massaged once a year for the last 22 years. I started when I was 30. I started having the PSA test when I was 40.

Don't listen to the old jokes about the doctor putting both hands on your shoulders. It's relatively painless and it's well worth having the knowledge that you're OK.

My Dad died of prostate cancer. My uncle died from prostate cancer and I had a cousin who was diagnosed with prostate cancer at 37.

Why does it always come back to that [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img]

I'll get it done eventually. I wouldnt have been able to make it then anywho.

Next month major league baseball is doing a tie in with the prostate cancer foundation around fathers day to promote and raise money for the cause.
