Although Mike changed the lyrics to relate to a broader audience and to keep in upbeat tone with the rest of the CD I always see the song with this original intent in mind. So I always look at the song as someone who has had a really painful childhood and thus is prone to cope with dysfunctional tendencies and a life of painful memories. Yet, always with the hope that some concept of God/Angels will make it better either now or in the hereafter.
