Scritt Scrat

Just wanted to point out how much these guys rock. As far as bang for the buck goes, they're untouched. *our hero gives a big lipstick kiss to the board* [img]smile.gif[/img] Anybody else?

I was trying to describe their style to someone the other day and the best I could do was...

psychotic cartoon glam
or
heavy metal smurfs on speed

how would others describe the style?

I agree with Carl...

Love the songs... but hate the "final sound" of the band... I think that a new singer + a new drummer is needed... and FAST!!

Well now, I never said I "hated" the final sound, I just always think of what a full on production could sound like.

I also like Kiko's voice. Might not be the best, but it is his baby, and his voice works most of the time.

Plus, it's not a matter of getting a "new drummer", so much as getting a real drummer. They use a drum machine for everything. Dezi was stuck in New York for numerous personal and financial reasons, so he helped come up with the programs and drum ideas, then contributed as much as he could to the rest of the band. The ideal Scritt would be to actually have Dezi in the room with them. But sadly, that won't happen, from what I understand. The reasons break my heart more than Scritt never using him though.

Dezi, for the record, was a fantastic drummer. A fact I will prove soon by posting his old band Funhouse in the "Listening Room".

For what Scritt always have to work with, limited as they were, they are an extremely accomplished band, and a damn fine one. I sit here in my house nightly wishing I was recording. Yet, I have all the equipment in front of me, and still have no idea how to use it effectively.

My only problem with Scritt, and I have told Kiko this, is that when I hear them I can't help but imagine what they would turn out if Kiko could only get into a real studio with a real band. Then my heart breaks because I have a feeling that will never happen. I think Kiko is an amazing songwriter, and I love his stuff, but man, for an actual Scritt experience, with a real drummer...phew...how amazing would that be???

I have actually played with the idea of starting my own label just to force Kiko into doing just this, as Scritt would be the first band I would want to sign, but he would have to align a full band. I would insist on Andii joining in for guitars. I think Andii and Kiko would turn out some amazing stuff together. Drums? I have no idea. Perfect world would keep Dezi there, but that isn't going to happen. So for my recorded Dezi stuff, I'll keep my Funhouse stuff spinning.
