How did this message board get so successful?

I have seen many message boards that just had no members or noone ever posted. How did this one get as popular as it is?

Jim. He pays for it and honestly gives a lot of lead way.
A good person who we should say thank to once a year. As far as i know he pays for it all out of his own pocket.
I've met him once a great guy. Thank him for this forum.
A good fellar with a bright idea. LPD SPORTS. Think about it.
What would many do wihtout it?
Jim developed it when he seen the need. Just a simple thanks would go a long ways. To him and the moderators. It's not a great thing all the time. But Jim, Rocketer, Counts, Big_Al and Ole Tob. Well they take care of it.
Remember them also folks.
Jim as i said just met him once years back. But a heck of fellar and one that loves this forum. He don't post much. But a heck of a good fellar. And pays for this all out of his own pocket.

Actually we do have a lot of good people and the board is interesting.

not to talk down about the board...... but its nothing like it used to be. An answer to your question though, we are passionate about our sports in this area unlike many places has ever seen. And this board is a place for us all to get together and talk about whats going on and how everyone is doing. Its an awesome thing when the people arent on here being stupid.

One of the most feverish sports areas in the world. We're all in love with local sports in this area.This board is also infested with one of the most plentiful resources in the world too. Former jocks living out their lives through todays youth. LIKE ME!!!

how did Jim advertise it how did he get members and such.?

This is a good board for area sports and just when we are bored, though there are message boards all over the net that get TONS more posts then this one. Being honest at times I find this board to be very boring. Though that is exepected, sports wise we talk more about area sports. When it isnt booming neither is the board. The non sports board should never slow down, but it does. Lack of idea's for post I guess.

Got to remember guys it is new. Jim added it to increase interest.
So post what you want. Just be civil and watch the language.
It beats the virginia preps board.
All they care about is Regions A,B and some C just depends.
Here we can talk and argue about all Region C and D.
Give him his thanks and the moderators. They are pretty liberal.
Think about it. It's Jim's forum and man what else can you think is so easy to access. From sport to politics we have i all.

I think this is a great board. I thank them all.

Adding to what diets said, I think it gets boring because it has to be rated G. I mean, in most cases, people just cant come out and say so and so's kid sucks, whereas on other message boards you would be saying "brett favre sucks ass, he needs to retire". So with that being said, the board tends to get stagnatted. I for one enjoy talking about college and pro sports on here more because peoples feelings are so easily hurt by contstructive criticism. It is a great place to find out the score of games though, espcially when the news or newspapers havent been released.
