LOL, very funny at the end
I'm not a history teacher but I am a history buff. Some of those are true but many are not. Just off top of my head.......
Neither were really very concerned about civil rights, they were both forced into making decision concerning civil rights. In fact Lincoln stated on more than one occasion that he would have allowed slavery to remain legal during his term but other issued forced the war.
Lincoln did not have a secretary named Kennedy. This is a myth.
Booth was from Maryland, not the south. He was born in 1838 not 1839.
Booth hide in a barn, not a warehouse. Oswald fired from a Library if you want to be technical.
And yes even the last one is wrong...I hope. Marilyn had been dead over a year before Kennedy was killed.
Re: History lesson for today
Tell'em how many failures Lincoln had before he was president, it is interesting.
Re: History lesson for today
tell'em how many failures JFk had as president
Re: History lesson for today
Lincoln did have a most unimpressive track record. Two failed Senate bids a botched run for Vice-President and only one term in the House.
Two fellows I know from an internet history forum who have more history knowledge than anyone I've ever spoken with both rank Lincoln among the 5 worse presidents ever. Neither of these fellows are southerners. One is a lawyer from Maryland the other a writer from Boston.
Kennedy as I remember never lost a bid. I can't remember him losing one.
Re: History lesson for today
Let's see , the economy was brisk, SS wasn't in danger, The Miners had total coverage on their health care, inflation was low, he was gonna nuke the NVA at Khe Shan and end Viet Nam, he backed the USSR out of this part of the world (read Cuba, yes the Bay of Pigs sucked)) before they deployed their nukes.... I'd have to search for more, I was only referring to Abe overcoming so much to get to the White House, but if you see a terrorist behind every word lets just attack Appy along with Iraq. His worse mistake was going to oil rich Texas with a Texan for a VP.
Re: History lesson for today
I'm thinking there was actually quite a bit of similarities brought up in a history class of mine-- about FDR and Hitler.
I wish I could remember some of them, but I can't
Re: History lesson for today
wasn't lincoln born on the same day as napoleon bonapart?
and also hitler shared alot of qualities with an Emperor of the Qin Dynasty, everything from the book burning to him finally getting overthrown because he tried to expand into what is now Russia.
