question
i know in the Bible it talks about people who commit suicide go to Hell...but after experiencing it first hand i cant help but think God does make exceptions
I had a friend...played with him since i can remember, but when he was about 5 or 6 his deadbeat dad left his wife for his wife's best friend...that tore this guy up and effectively (imo) ruined the rest of his life like a domino effect...anyways, the guy lived in knoxville until he hit 7th grade, then moved so his mother could be closer to mine (they were good friends and college buddies)...they moved to gc and he had a hard time adjusting, he was 6'1 but about 330 lbs and very self conscious...after staying for a while his father called him one day and told him he was going to give him a second chance (like it was the boy's fault that he left ) and he cried for weeks about that
he finally settled in and made some relationships with kids at school, which was a big breakthrough b/c for all of the trauma the kid suffered he had very little social skills...he was quickly changing for the better then all of a sudden his mother found herself a man but he wanted them to move to maryland...i never saw him again
friday, my mother calls me and explains to me that the kid i had grown up and played with for a long time had shot himself and taken his life that morning...what i didnt know was that 3 months ago he was diagnosed with malignant cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy...he had also lost 100+ lbs and was down to a 34 waist size...he also had a girlfriend and was on his way to college this fall (which is amazing in itself b/c he was dyslexic)
but he told his mother a week ago that he couldnt bare the pain from chemo anymore...then fri morning he wrote a letter asking for forgiveness from his family (step father had 3 children living in same house from previous marriage) but he just couldnt take the pain anymore
his mother sent an email to my mother friday morning reading only "(his name) is not in pain anymore..."
he shot himself and was found hours later in his room with the note
...he took his life...but i gotta hold on to the hope that somehow, God made an exception...

Re: question
i think their would have to be exceptions in all things, have anyone ever heard of assisted sucide? Like where these old people are in so much pain that they request to be put to death. I dont know all the details on this its just something ive Heard about....it is just something you have to pray about

Re: question
I am sorry about that gcdevil. You ask a great question, and I can only think of one response. He is in the hands of a merciful God. We do not know all the great mysteries, and no one ever will.

Re: question
hey gcdevil i know where you are coming from on this, I lost a guy I played football with, Steven Thompson, because of this my senior year, if you need anything let me know...
Its hard tellin what the big guy up stairs decides. Suicide is never the answer for anything, it doesnt accomplish anything.

Re: question
No where in the Bible does it state that suicide victims go to hell, that is a catholic belief. The Bible states not to murder. A person that committs suicide is not in their normal state of mind, or they wouldnt kill theirself. God has his own judgements for each person, so to say all that committ suicide go to hell, would be playing the judge. Let God judge those who come before him, he is a loving God, and I'm sure his judgement is fair.
