AIN'T" IT THE TRUTH!!!

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6am. While his coffeepot ( MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA ), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE ) and tennis shoes ( MADE IN KOREA ). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet ( MADE IN INDIA ) he sat down with his calculator ( MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch ( MADE IN TAIWAN ) to the radio ( MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY ) filled it with GAS from Saudi Arabia and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN J O B. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals ( MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA ), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in. A M E R I C A.....

You're right on the mark (here comes the but) but look at it from a different perspective . If we did not feed into this "buy the cheapest products" philosophy , it would be a moot point . Look at the amount of business places like Dollar Tree , Family Dollar , Dollar General and others of their ilk . Even Wally has tons of non US produced products , and you know how people shop Wally . My point is , we cannot pay good wages and produce inexpensive products . The countries we compete with have no unions , matching 401 k's , insurance benefits , 2 wk paid vacations , MLK and Presidents day holidays , decent wages etc. We want all that package but the price of the products we manufacture have to pay for it . I guess heavier import tariffs would balance the trade deficeit but for some reason our government doesn't want to play that way . So as long as the Korean vcr costs 39 dollars at Wally and an American produced vcr equivalent costs 139 dollars , guess which will be bought most of the time.
