Opinion
with all this Da Vinci Code talk
what is your opinion on a book that is meant to be taken for truth, but the story or some of the stories within it are false (or meant to create an idea or philosophy...a "parable", if you will)...how about that the stories it writes about happen thousands of years before the topic was ever written on so we don't have any first-hand knowledge of what actually happened
can we take this book seriously? is this a book we should follow or believe?

Re: Opinion
The Da Vinci Code IS anti-christian in a way. The entire christian belief is that christ was not a man but the son of god. The Da Vinci Code is portraying jesus as an ordinary man, refuting christianity, which would fall under the anti-christian category. But if you whatch the movie, or read the book, with an open mind and take it for what it is, fiction, then it is very good. Dan Brown himself said that the book is fiction.

Re: Opinion
I agree the Da Vinci Code is anti-christian. Jesus lived in Glory in heaven with the father and left to be born of a virgin. God's word became flesh and Jesus experienced what any man today will experience, temptation, hunger, false religion, jealousy, strife and etc.. But Jesus was a man without sin until he took upon himself our sin. I can't stand for anyone to take the name of Jesus and portray him as anything different than what the word of God says he is. Jesus is Holy, without spot or blemish, he taught us all how to overcome sin and not fall into the hands of Satan. It makes me sick for any fiction book to dictate that Jesus was just a man and had desires of the flesh as taking a wife. Jesus came for ONE reason only and it wasn't to have sex. Any man with respect should not print such trash. This is my opinion of the Da Vinci Code. Why do so many want to go out of the Bible and write their own version of it to the point that it is totally opposite of the truth. Why not take all that energy and time and write about something else. But then again I know why, it wouldn't draw as much attention as this has.

Re: Opinion
All this controversy came around when The Last Temptation of Christ was released as well.

Re: Opinion
Id say it was a LOT worse for that movie MikMo. It really stirred it up with a lot of ppl. Though I am always very interested in movies like this, its just a different way of looking at things. It doesnt mean any harm IMO. I mean, seriously everything doesnt happen exactly the way its written, or remember. Im sure we can all think back to something that happened to us years ago, and we cant remember exactly how it happened, but possibly somewhat how.

Re: Opinion
Shouldn't have been much controversy over The Last Temptation of Christ; it was a sub-par movie at best. It generated press because it depicted Jesus as having sexual desires. Funny thing is, for all the buzz the movie generated it still didn't cut the mustard as a good film. The same can be said for The DaVinci Code as a film; its lame. Furthermore, the only problem with The DaVinci Code as a book is that far too many people read it as truth without realizing its historical inaccuracies (i.e. the Priory of Scion was a HOAX). The press have played up the controversy over the movie, but it won't be all that relevant in a few years (same as The Last Temptation of Christ).

Re: Opinion
question for juggernaunt and skeptical, did either one of you read the book? i am not saying that trying to start an argument or anything just a question. i didnt see the movie, yet, but in the book it clearly says that Jesus was the son of God. The main anti christian message was that Jesus got married and had a kid.
Whoever got the idea that Jesus was married simply looked at the Catholic sacraments and said since Jesus is the key central figure in Christianity he had to participte in all 7 sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist, Holy Anointing, Holy Matrimony, Holy orders, and Penance. Anyone who knows anything about Catholicism (yes it is a Christian demoniation for the ignorant members of the forum who think other wise) knows that priest cannot get married or have children (if they wish to do so they have to leave the priesthood).
