VT football camp
VT received 2 commitments today from WR Patrick Terry who shot up the charts over the summer and should be top 10 in VA by the end of the season if not this summer...he is out of Halifax, VA and ran a 10.4 100m in his high school meet this spring
the other is from a DE/DT out of Bailey, NC...Kwamaine Battle...he was being pushed to UNC by a lot of people and prob would've committed to them at their camp next week but apparently had a good enough time at this camp to commit
i got to see a little bit of the camp, Tyrod Taylor is just plain sick...some others who looked good were a RB out of Georgia but i didnt catch his name, william alvarez, jamar jackson and patrick terry...tech should get at least 3 more verbals by the end of the week to bring the total to around 8
once Tyrod commits, look out, it should be a landslide of recruits coming in...he bonded with everyone and talked to everyone he could...apparently he has worked the phones with a bunch of prospects too so we shall see...

Re: VT football camp
Last year Myron Rolle got on national TV and told all the top players to follow him to FSU. I kinda doubt him saying that was a deciding factor in any players decision.
All recruits chat each other up, doesn't really matter, hell Vidal Hazelton was at Hargrave with 3 FSU guys, and they were constantly on him to be a Nole, didn't happen...

Re: VT football camp
the thing about Tyrod though is that apparently some big ones are listening
Mark Barnes
Jay Smith
William Alvarez
DaNorris Searcy
Patrick Terry
Tyrod isn't making a blank plea to kids across the nation to join him, he actually has people approach him about where he is going when he goes to camp and then he talks with those kids
simply put, without Tyrod we are not in the picture for Jay Smith, Mark Barnes or William Alvarez...and those are only the ones who are being public about it...go check Smith's and Barnes' updates and you can see for yourself

Re: VT football camp
If Tech finishes inside the top 15 in the final recruiting rankings we'll talk.

Re: VT football camp
With VT moving to the ACC has it help any with recruiting and exsposer or is it the same ole same ole with them?

Re: VT football camp
Here are their last 5 classes
2002 45th
2003 27th
2004 41st
2005 14th
2006 32nd
I'd expect them to finish in the 20's this year.

Re: VT football camp
it's helped a lot, and it didn't hurt that we won the conference the first year we were in it as well as winning our division this past year
the thing about recruiting rankings is that you take a look at those numbers and youd think tech would finish around 30th in the polls on the football field each year, but yet we prob avg around 12-18 each year...says something about talent evaluation

Re: VT football camp
on another note, 30% of UVA's recruiting class didnt make it through admissions. They are ncaa elgible but not uva elgible. Its almost like getting put on probation when you lose that many players in one signing year.

Re: VT football camp
and then realize they also lost 3 starters on defense to being kicked off the team...it should be an interesting year in charlottesville

Says more about coaching IMO. Bud Foster does a great job with defensive talent. Or is Bud Foster a player? I still can't remember.
