SI taking shot at UT
We Don't Want You, Willie
Willie Williams' career may be falling apart.
David Bergman/SI
It seems former all-world recruit/convicted felon Willie Williams, who's been seeking a transfer from Miami because the 'Canes have yet to automatically turn over one of their starting linebacker positions to him, isn't garnering as many suitors as he might have thought. Two schools reported to be at the top of his list, West Virginia and Tennessee, have publicly declined interest. You know a guy's got serious issues when Tennessee won't even take him.

Says the guy who supports a team that just took a player who got busted for trying to sell 8,000,000,000,000 lbs of weed.
Starbuck's right. All these schools are the same. They're all sucking at the teet of the all mighty dollar.

I'm glad you guys said it. Major college ball is turning into a place of it's all about the Money. Where is Jerry McGwire when you need him.

Nobody has mentioned that miami still has him on the team and hasn't suspended or kicked him off.

Re: SI taking shot at UT
This is a little on the subject from Da Predator aka TheCraziefather.
Willie didn't show up, and got bumped down behind the guys that did. That's what tipped this whole thing off. Coker actually wanted to clear out that WLB spot for WW and get him on the field this year, but Randy Shannon wasn't happy with him skipping the voluntary workouts OR the fact that WW still makes most plays off of athleticism & talent instead of staying within the scheme (see LaVar Arrington for an example). So, given those facts, Shannon, as the D-coordinator, advised that they make WW work his way back up the depth chart, that they couldn't just allow him to walk in and have a starting spot guaranteed if he skipped voluntary workouts. Coker agreed.
If it were up to me, I'd let WW do his soul searching, find out that teams across the nation have the wrong perception of him based solely off of his history pre-Miami. Once he finds that out for himself, he'll realize how good he had it at Miami, and he'll come back. I'm one of the few people that's holding out hope that WW will stay at UM and wait to be a superstar, instead of going somewhere like UTEP, USF, or somewhere smaller and being a star that's just good enough to get into the league. Also remember that Coker hasn't officially had his release granted by UM...WW's just shopping around right now. That's why we've already heard that UT or WVU won't take him. Plus, Coker won't allow WW to go to a team that is on Miami's schedule for the years remaining that WW would be in school, meaning there's a lot of major programs and all of the ACC out the door automatically.
My main point that I want everyone on the board to get is this--WW has not broken any team rules, he's not being dismissed, he's not being suspended. He merely wants to start NOW, and he's been told by the staff the he likely won't be starting this year, so he's leaving to go elsewhere (somewhere smaller most likely) and be a star, which still makes zero sense because he'll have to sit out a year--that's my big reason why I think WW won't be leaving UM...he's already been out 1 year due to injury (redshirted in 04/05), and got limited playing time as a RS-Freshman last season while he was still picking up the scheme. He's been at Miami for almost 3 years now, and this was going to be his breakout year. He didn't handle his business by showing up, working hard, and making sure he had a spot--that's his fault. But that doesn't mean he can't still come back, work hard, and have 1-2 productive years before he goes to the NFL. If he transfers, you're looking at 2-3 years before he goes to the NFL. Staying at Miami is the more direct trip to the NFL and a high draft status than any other option he could weigh out--he'll see the light eventually.

Your right they haven't. Wonder if a deal is being worked out? Old saying and we all know it. Money talks. May be a deal in the works.
