Re: If there were a playoff
Sometimes the BCS gets it right but I would rather see a playoff system in college football!
What do you all think about it?

BCS is never right. The only right way is a playoff.
Re: If there were a playoff
It's about money.
But i agree every one else from NAIA to Div. 1 AA has a playoff system that seems to work.
Re: If there were a playoff
if NCAA goes to playoff then everyone will complain about why the #4 got in and not #5 or #8 & not #9...etc
Re: If there were a playoff
Maybe the guy on ESPN I was listening to had it right: Add just one game, have the #1 draw a bye and watch #2 and #3 go at it, playing the winner the following week-not perfect, but a simple, sensible improvement IMO. I think with the parity, and evolution of college football over the last decade or so, we'll never have to worry about FOUR unbeatens, and somebody being "left out". If you have a loss, you really have no right to gripe (unless you get jumped by another 1-loss team).
Re: If there were a playoff
There is a playoff and/or tournament in every division and sport except for Div 1 Football.
They say it can't be done but every other sport and Div seem to be able to do it.
They talk about Travel being expensive...the NCAA Basketball tournament and the travel those teams do couldn't be much worse.
Until these people decided to not be greedy for money. A playoff would raise tons of money by the way ... only thing is the Universities would not be getting the big pay day!
Until it is settled on the field, the BCS will never get it right!

Could be a little worse traveling with nearly 100 versus 20.
Why can't the playoff games be the bowl games, forget about the conference tie-ins and play crowds won't be a problem these days the way people travel.

I agree .. they could be!
Orange - 15.5 million
Rose - 15.5 million
Fiesta -15.5 million
Sugar - 15.5 million
Capital One - 4.25 million
Music City - 3.2 million
Cotton - 3 million
Outback - 3 million
Chic-fila - 2.825 million
Gator - 2.5 million
Alamo - 2.25 million
Holiday - 2.2 million
Champs Sports - 2.2 million
Shoot that's the top 13 bowl games right there. Move the dates around and get the top 8 teams and have a playoff!
In the 1st Round play the top four bowls (ROSE, ORANGE, SUGAR. FEISTA) and reward the teams for making the playoffs! All 8 teams would get the 15.5 million dollar pay out per bowl!
The 2nd Round you have the final four and play 2 games. Play the Cotton Bowl and the OutBack Bowl and both those teams would get the 3 million pay out per game!
For the championship game play the BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME which is worth another 15.5 million in pay out.
NOW LOOK AT THE POSSIBLITY OF MONEY A TEAM COULD EARN....IF THEY MADE THE PLAYOFFS!
WIN OR LOSE all 8 teams would make 7.75 million the 1st Round.
WIN OR LOSE in the FINAL FOUR... all 4 teams have made 9.25 million combined in 2 Rounds.
If you make it to the National Championship game in this format WIN OR LOSE both teams will make 17 million TOTAL per team in 3 Rounds of football.
Only the winner takes home that nice

AND GET THE RINGS!
THIS WOULD BE VERY MOTIVATING I WOULD THINK TO GET YOUR TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR!
There are way too many bowl games that reward for mediocrity. Let's do away with all these games and settle this on the field.
To the other teams that don't make the playoffs...well, it's time to hit the gym and practice field and get ready for next year!
Re: If there were a playoff
Do away with the bowl system, which will never happen because of the $$.
Either have a playoff just like D-1 or forget about it.
