They will make it on their name. I don't know that they shouldn't be a heavy bubble team though. Maybe a 9 seed at best IMO, but they will probably end up a 6 somehow.
Duke is in the tourney...
Is this question a joke?
Don't North Carolina send 4 teams, no matter what the records? I thought that was a rule.
If it was say Nebraska or someone like that and they had exact same record and everything then no they're NIT bound, but since it's Duke, they're in, but after 1 game, they're OUT!!
duke will wind up with a 5 seed. they'll beat a #12 seed and struggle with the 2nd round. more than likely, they'll be in the sweet 16. it's duke for God's sake.
Good ol Duke bias. I remember a Bryant Stith-led Virginia squad at something like 25-8 (9-7 in the ACC) getting the shaft and heading to the NIT (where they thumped the field on the way to the NIT championship). Were that Duke that year, they would have been dancing as a 4 seed
Of course Duke makes it, everyone would die if Coach K wasn't in the tourney.
According to CNNSI, here are the bubble teams that are out. Which of these teams would honestly deserve to go in instead of Duke?
Air Force (23-8, 10-6 MWC)
Alabama (20-11, 7-9 SEC)
App. St. (25-7, 15-3 SoCon)
Arkansas (19-12, 7-9 SEC)
Bradley (21-12, 10-8 MVC)
Clemson (21-10, 7-9 ACC)
DePaul (18-13, 9-7 Big East)
Georgia (17-12, 8-8 SEC)
K-State (21-10, 10-6 Big 12)
Illinois (22-10, 9-7 Big Ten)
Michigan (21-11, 8-8 Big Ten)
Miss. St. (17-12, 8-8 SEC)
Ok. St. (21-11, 6-10 Big 12)
Ole Miss (19-11, 8-8 SEC)
UMass (23-8, 11-3 A-10)
West Va. (22-9, 9-7 Big East)
This of course saying the Duke is the last team in, which obviously they aren't. I think the only teams on that list that should get in are WVU and Appy State. But neither over Duke.
