football title game MOVED to Salem
Robert Andersons's story on the Executive Committee's meeting says JMU's been replaced by Salem Stadium (for at least 2 years), with AAA moving into Scott Stadium from Tidewater.
He has some good info on b'ball Divisions, too.

Re: football title game MOVED to Salem
Very nice, not too bad of a trip, it is getting a little closer anyway. Are they going to be moving the Stagg Bowl to another venue or another weekend. Seems like to me they normally play the NCAA Division III Championship (Stagg Bowl) there on the same weekend.
Re: football title game MOVED to Salem
This year, the Stagg Bowl is Dec. 15th (our finals are the 8th) & next year it's Dec. 20th, so I don't see a problem.
Re: football title game MOVED to Salem
Very nice, thanks VHSLhelper. I knew it was normally the same weekend just didn't know if they would move it to another location or just change the date.

Looks like they've also voted to split Group A into divisions in basketball.
Re: football title game MOVED to Salem
everyone knew that was going to happen
Re: football title game MOVED to Salem
Is Salem going to change from grass to field turf? That field could potentially be a mess in December.
Re: football title game MOVED to Salem
Salem will have a new artificial surface -- FieldTurf -- installed by the end of next week. That was essential to the city's being awarded the two Dec. 8 championship games, Salem director of civic facilities Carey Harveycutter said Wednesday.
"We couldn't bid on it until we got the FieldTurf," Harveycutter said. "We're excited about it. We think we'll be an outstanding venue for Single-A football."
That's a great complex up there with the baseball stadium and civic center all there together. It'll be a great place to watch some football, especially with a MUCH shorter drive.
