Talk about a load of TVA BS...

However, users of Fort Patrick Henry and Boone lakes will notice little if any difference.
The reason, Bowling and Knoxville-based TVA spokesman Gil Francis said during a Tuesday visit to the Tri-Cities, is that those lakes are not as deep as the others, and what water comes in flows out.
"What comes in goes out is essentially the way you run a Boone and East Pat,"? Bowling said.
Douglas, Cherokee, Watauga and South Holston, on the other hand, are much deeper with steeper shorelines.
South Holston is down 12 feet below normal, compared to Watauga at 7 feet down, Cherokee 13 feet down and Douglas 17 feet down. Fontana Lake, near Asheville, N.C., is down 26 feet. However, Bowling said all are down about the same amount of water, just in proportion to their shapes and depths. </div></div>
I guess that is why Ft Pat has been at the same level for at least the last four months.
IMO this guy is talking out of his ass. South Holston runs into Boone, which runs into Ft Pat, which pretty much runs into Cherokee.
So WTF are SH and Cherokee down so damned much but everyone's favorite pleasure lakes are pretty much right at full pool?
Re: Talk about a load of BS...
Cherokee has gone down quite a bit. I was down there from the 12 to the 16 and just in that short amount of time one of the roads that is usually covered by the lake became drivable. Usually cant drive it until about mid july [not in a golf cart anywyas, you could probably usually drive it w/ a truck w/ 4wheel drive, but in a golf cart its difficult]
Re: Talk about a load of BS...
Do you have to reply to every damn topic on the forum?
Re: Talk about a load of BS...
Wish everyone would make up their minds. I get jumped for only replying to consolidation threads, then I try to post on other things that interest me and I still get jumped. And last I checked replying to 3 or 4 topics was not replying to ever single thread on here. WTF?!
Re: Talk about a load of BS...
There are no pleasure boats at Boone
And when did Douglas become deeper than Boone????
Re: Talk about a load of BS...
That's what I'm wondering. Boone is deeeeeep. Stern can be in 80' of water, bow in 5'.
Like I said, talking out of his ass. Gotta keep all the pleasure boaters on Boone happy.
Re: Talk about a load of BS...
neutral you know anything about that Fontana Lake, must be 200' deep straight off the shore if it is 26' down and still usable.

They might want to worry about all of the rich people that live on South Holston. Seems like all the lawyers, doctors, etc. from Abingdon would have some pull and get their lake back up to where it should be. I'd be surprised if this happens again next year if they start complaining to the right people.
