An investigation by Elizabethton police has led to charges of forgery and theft against Kimberly Rider Witten, 48, 108 Old Charity Hill Road, according to a press release.
Witten, mother of Elizabethton native Jason Witten, a member of the Dallas Cowboys, is charged with 25 counts of forgery and theft over $1,000.
Witten reportedly signed a statement on July 2 admitting to withdrawing approximately $5,645 from the bank account of Marie McQueen through Carter County Bank.
According to witnesses and photographs taken at the bank, Witten made the withdrawals on 25 separate occasions between November 2006 and June 2007.
In Witten's statement, she reportedly told police she initially had received mail containing McQueen bank account information by mistake, then used the information to forge McQueen's signature and make the withdrawals because she was experiencing financial difficulties.

Makes Jason look like a total a$$ letting his mom get in that shape.
Unless she was never there while he was growing up because of divorce and they never had any kind of relationship she is just the maternal parent and the step-mom is the real parent.
Re: Another family member of the famous
I read this and wondered did the Witten boys know? Nice job of the KPT times to drag him into it...with the headline. You never know what goes on in a family people are people famous or not. Not judging just reading.
Re: Another family member of the famous
WJHL received some emails over bringing him and Shawn's name into the mix, or so they said on-air.
Re: Another family member of the famous
We dont know what got her into "financial difficulties."
This is purely speculation (just as an example), but often when folks turn to crimes like these because of "financial difficulty" they got into that position in the first palce through illicit acitivies (such as drug use). If I had a parent like that I don't believe I'd be supporting them financially.
Just another thing to consider, and another reason why it would be wrong to drag the kids name into it (like he was a bad guy),

There's no story otherwise, and they wouldn't even be able to mention it.
