Couple of interesting HS FB facts
There were a couple games that did not involve ranked teams, but provided some unbelievable results. In Colorado, Fairview High of Boulder, CO, was stunned as Dustin Griffiths nailed a state-record 64-yard field goal (one yard longer than the current NFL record) as time expired in a 10-9 Eaglecrest victory. Fairview had been ranked third in the state and was in consideration for a regional ranking before their loss
In northern Virginia, Annandale defeated Westfield as Corey Edwards blocked an extra point attempt that would have sent the game into a sixth overtime. The final in five overtimes was 68-67, a score more befitting of a high school basketball game, rather than a high school football game. The 135 combined points set a Virginia state record. The game was tied at 33-33 at the end of regulation.

64 yard field goal!!! Good lord. I can only imagine what the folks in the stands were thinking when they sent him out for the attempt. I would have probly had a chuckle myself
Re: Couple of interesting HS FB facts
If I'm not mistaken the national HS record for a field goal is over 70 yards.
Re: Couple of interesting HS FB facts
What happens when they get to the NFL?
Re: Couple of interesting HS FB facts
Don't know..the college record is longer than the NFL record as well. All I can figure is in the NFL coaches don't want to take the chance on a miss from that distance unless it is the end of regulation or the half. After all, it's a business and coaches lose jobs over bad decisions.

Wow - can't believe it's the 6th anniversary of that monster!

I might be totally on crack, but aren't the posts a little narrower in the NFL...just always looks that way on TV
