KY Sweet 16

Went to the in-laws over the weekend. They live about an hour from Lexington and my wifes cousin had tix to the championship game for the KHSAA. The game was a pretty good one had Mason County against Holmes of Covington. They were fairly evenly matched just that Mason was more athletic. Mason has the #7 small forward in the country according to Rivals.com in Darius Miller. I wasn't that impressed with him, he played lazy and didn't really standout to be that highly ranked, and no way he is 6'6" he may be 6'3" but that is it.

First time I had ever been to Rupp. Not impressed at all. Thompson-Bolling is a much nicer facility and much better to watch basketball in. The seats are way to small and with the built in cupholders at the end of the arm rest they are aggrivating to get in and out of. Other than the actual score and the time the scoreboard looks like a jumbled mess with a bunch of numbers jammed on it. They do have a nice sound system and the big screens in each corner work well (other than the one that the color was all green) would be better to take the confligration of speakers above the court out and put the screens and scoreboard there. Cousin told me they are planning to build a bigger arena on campus. I don't know why IMO 20-25,000 is more than enough to try and seat for a baketball game, the people setting in the upper level are not getting their moneys worth they are so far away from the court you are just watching the big screens and you might as well be at home if your gonna be watching the game on TV.

Yeah, Rupp is a dump, especially with all those banners hangin in the rafters.

Thats kind of like knocking Cameron Indoor, Neyland, or the Big House you just don't do it. UVA has the nicest basketball arena I've ever been to in my life, yet they couldn't sell out Sean Singletary's Senior Day. Atmosphere> Looks and comfort.

Being in RUPP on senior day is pretty fun.
I was there on Travis Fords senior day.

I have heard that Fenway is much like what the beast described of RUPP. But even with my hate for Boston and all things related, Id wanna go there only next to Yankee Stadium.

I'd expect Yankee Stadium to be a dump as well but with the tradition and everything it'd be something to see.

My brother said its tiny, its just a stadium dropped in the middle of a city. Ill see for myself this summer.

Me too unless I get this internship.

Oh yeah forgot about the Banners, could they get them any higher and less noticeable. And where is Tubby's banner, he did win a NC so he deserves to have one as much as any of the other coaches.

have to agree there, but I didn't get any feel for tradition in the place, with the renovations they did recently it takes away from all the tradiditonal feel. No matter what you can't compare any place in college hoops to Cameron. That is like comparing Neyland or the Big House to ND Stadium and touchdown Jesus.

I had actually looked forward to going to Rupp at least once just because of the tradition but it just isn't there.

I heard a kid from I think Paintsville came off the bench and tackled another kid during a game.

I assure you things are much different there when the Cats play. It's not called the Capital of College Basketball for nothing.
