Thank you so much for posting that, I cant stop crying though after reading it. I knew him as Rickie the friend. He was such a great person and I miss him so much. He would call my house late at night and as soon as I answered he would say "Skeens, what you got to eat over there" then we'd talked a bit about how he was gonna steal my girlfriend and hang up. Then at school in class, he'd do this thing he called "The Kabash" were he'd come up behind me and squeeze the life out of me lol. I loved Rick as did all that knew him. He was so full of life and never was in a bad mood. I promise that anyone who met him was blessed, he was that great of a person. I will never forget him and his personality. I know all of us on graduation day looked at that empty chair and teared up a bit, but we knew he was there. I dont see how Ms Harris(Billie) makes it everyday doing her job, because she has this picture on her desk of him,I cant even manage to look at one without tearing up and I cant imagine what she feels when she does. She is one of the strongest people I know, an amazing person herself. So is Ricks sis, I see her \every day also at the college and good friends with her. Her and Ricks' personalities are just alike and she reminds me of him a lot but its a good thing because I feel closer to him when i am around her even though he lives in my heart. But I know Rick is looking down on us and I will see him again one day. Rick, dont be playing too many pranks up there in heaven, but God knows he made you like that so Im sure he wont mind too much. I love you and miss you man, we all do. I'll see you again, this I know...but what I wouldnt give for one more Kabash or phone call right now.
Great article.
He was an extraordinary young man.
I didn't even know him and reading that made me want to shed a tear...mostly from thinking how I should appreciate time spent with my children.
Being a parent that article is difficult to read, as it hurts thinking about what it would be like to lose your child like that.
Rickie was a special young man. I know his mother Willie and she's a very special lady as well.
My prayers to all who knew him.
Great article, and great post R13. Definitely a tragedy.
I couldn't help but to cry after reading that.
You never liked the Kabash until Rick would say, "I apologize sir, want me to rub your feet?" and you were laughing again.
Such a great, great guy full of everything you could ask for in a friend. I miss you Rick.
The Kabash was painful, he was so big and would squeeze the life out of me with his huge arms..you know lol. Always askin everybody "Lemme see yo feet please", though never letting anyone see his. He always wore these beat-up flip-flops i guess you could call em, but wore long white socks with them, crazy. I remember getting a Kabash in that uncle fester mask, during homecoming I think it was. I miss those days so much, it was never the same at John I Burton after he left us.
Rest in peace rickie i know every friday your watching raider games from above with matt earls and jason renfro.
