Hi everyone.
What do you think about the great New Orleans funkster called Stanton Moore? I've started to dig especially his solo-stuff a lot lately... the man is so funkin' groovy! Moore also seems like very cool and down-to-earth guy, which is nice.

Haven't heard but a few samples from his new CD, but his debut was a BURNER!!! MAN!! Love that stuff. Kinda in the funky Meters type of feel. Didn't figure out he was the same drummer from Galactic until afterward.
SMOKIN'!! Will have to put his new CD on my wishlist.
Yes! "All kooked out" is awesome... but in my opinion this second disc, "Flyin' the koop" is even better! Smokin' stuff, as you said.
I really dig the sound of his kit, especially on the new disc. Gotta love that vintage Gretsch sound! If my memory serves me correctly, Moore's round-badge kit is from the 60's. (had to check... the year is 1963 to be exact!)

You know, I hadn't visited his site yet until your reply prompted me to and I'M GLAD I DID!!
Haven't had a chance to see the whole thing yet, but it's just amazing to see so much groove come out of such few drums. I've never seen him live. Nothing like a good New Orleans groove to put you in a good mood.

His website is definitely worth browsing trough. Really cool stuff there.
Does anyone here know other players like Stanton? Should I start checking out his roots, like Zigaboo Modeliste for example. Can anyone point me out some essential 'Meter' material?

'Rejuvenation' is an absolute killer! Every song is brilliant. Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste (drums) + George Porter Jr. (bass) = one of the greatest rhythm section of all time!
Thanks a bunch, Pocket. I've been checking out some other New Orleans stuff too, like Dr John and Lee Dorsey... and of course - The Meters (Zigaboo... damn!)
