Crooked Dust Caps.......... A Rainy Day Musing
So, in an effort to clear out some lost interest projects, flights of fancy, and just to get a grip on my hoarding obsession i've been selling off some Altec drivers.
After handling several woofers and examining them up close over the course of the last couple weeks i've discovered that this must just be part of their hand made charm as i barely have a straight one out of a dozen. I've never really taken issue with these anomalies until i recently met "cockeyed junior". Please see the following pic, and if per chance you were in Anaheim during the 21st week of 1970, assembling 414-16B's, by all means please step forward and meet your illegitimate child.:D
While i can appreciate the charm of the ones you have to study a bit to see that they're not quite centered, this is one that i'm afraid only a mother could love.

That's just half of a matched pair, specifically designed for listening to Jethro Tull's Cross Eyed Mary!

Good for matching HF tilt?;)

That's way better than any attempt I have made ...thanks to GPA..
I do not have to try any more.

I suspect if you had two, you could rotate them 180 degrees and claim they were a left/right pair.
