AAAAAAAAACK!
I think i can smell them over the net:Sick:
Whatever the outer covering on those 2 way boxes, it looks like it could harbor some "funk", and i don't mean the good stuff.
If he'd take 475 off the BIN, the 816's don't look too bad. They look like they might be DIY's, but seem fairly well done given that brace in the center of the horn flares.
Yeah, it looks like it's growing
Oh, so you're fine with the color? :DQuote:

What makes you think they're home built?
Yeah, both pair look '80s era DIY, so shouldn't be advertised as early, rare Altecs IMO. Oh well, it's always up to the potential buyer to confirm authenticity. Frankly, the mix of materials, bracing, glue up looks like those I use to build for local garage/teen bands that could barely afford the components, so can't help but wonder if I'm the 'amateur'. ;)

Since it's topically and geographically close-ish, I've got a line on a single 816-a in PHL if anyone is looking for a single. I assume factory built, since they must've read the label to get me the cab model but cav empt. No idea of condition.
