No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
Honest to God, that might be the biggest snub ever. Just shows you how much of a joke this is. If they voted for MVP today, I have no doubt he would be in the top 5. I'm just at a loss for words how somebody like Omar Infante, a utility guy can make the all star team with an ops in the 700's yet Joey Votto can be near 1.000 and not make the team.
Bud, if you are going to continue to make this game mean something, let the best players play. Not guys that don't even belong on a starting lineup.
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
I hope Charlie Manuel has a heart attack! He took Ryan Howard over Joey Votto!
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
He's on the final vote. Maybe the fans will vote him in, I wonder if the guy leading the league in ops has ever missed the all star game?
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
I've already voted about 50 times. Will vote plenty more times between now and Thursday.
Reds play the Phillies later this week. I'd love to see Votto go off (maybe a walk off homer) and send some sort of gesture Charlie Manuel's way!
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
I wonder how much the homosexual talk played into this? It would really be a shame if the players didn't vote for him because he MAY be gay.
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
even as a cardinals fan i have to say that this is outright robbery, i even voted for votto "glad i didnt say that in st. louis"
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
That is ridiculous, I would vote for Votto.
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
If Votto does not make it in through the fan vote, it will be the FIRST TIME ever in the National League that a player has been in the top 5 in Homeruns, Average, and RBI and NOT made it to the All-Star game.
It happened once in the AL. Boog Powell didn't get in with the Orioles in 1966.

WHAT!? I hadn't heard that before. I guess I'll have to be careful confessing my "man-crush" for Votto! :o
Re: No Joey Votto in the All Star Game
I couldn't believe it either man. Heck as much as I dogged him early on, Glaus deserved to be on the all star team more than Infante. I like Infante. He can play a little bit of everywhere, but I could not believe he was on the team. What about the pitching line up. Rhodes is the only lefty in the whole NL lineup. Wagner should be on it as well.
But what did I tell you last week when we talked about this. I should Votto should be an all-star, but since I wouldn't picking the team, he wasn't a lock. It blows my mind.
