I can understand their point.
The high school was built in 1974, they already have property waiting for a new high school, the town is growing, and the $14M is just for repairs they know about. It will take as long to repair the school as it will to build a new one. They found the cause of the collapse was due to improper construction. They're not even sure this same fault is in the rest of the building, yet. When they get in and start tearing up the roof and testing who knows what they'll find. If the original contractor made that big of an error (or shortcut), what additional errors (or shortcuts) were made?
They've got the means to rebuild, they have the plans to build new elsewhere already (albeit later). I think they should consider it. I wouldnt have the warm fuzzies about sending a kid to the school even after the repairs were made.
Agree 100%. I'm surprised they're even CONSIDERING repairs.
They were talking 2-3 years ago about a new HS out on Prices Fork. They shoulda put the wheels in motion back in March.
--- elsewhere ---
Clarke Co. dragged their feet on building for so long that it actually HELPED them... prices are down 40% from 2 years ago.
