Diving in, waiting for their arrivial

Pulled the trigger and ordered the 902-8s from Bill. Going into a set of 846Bs. Now the waiting begins.

Yes, I second that.

And what are you currently using?

Their stock except crossovers removed. Bi amping with Heathkit W7s for the lows and a set of the W5s for the horns. Crossed at 1200 Hz through Heathkit X0-1 tube crossovers. Contemplating doing the highly acclaimed Zilch quasi 19 passives for comparison. Gold Lion 77s, 66s in the amps, Mullard 12ax7s at the moment in the XOs.

The package arrived yesterday. I put the drivers in this morning. First thoughts as the music started was that I was listening to a new set of speakers. The first CD I played, at a very low volume since the wife and grand daughter are still asleep, was Van Morrison's Magic Time. This is one of my favorites so I know it well. I could hear much clearer the drummer's brushes slide across the high hat cymbals, the hang time seemed longer on the notes played on the flute, the "ting" if you will of the drum stick softly tapping the bell portion of the ride cymbals, little things like these stood out. When I get home from work this afternoon I plan on turning it up a tad, perhaps cranking it is a better term. So to sum up my first impression is that I spent my money wisely. One other comment: The drivers are impressive. The engineering is above first rate. American manufacturing like it use to be. The folks at GPA deserve the outstanding reputation they have earned.
