Wondering what is your favorite for Local Football. I watched channell 11 for the first time in a long time. It was pretty good. I wish they had better cameras or something WCYB blows them away in quality. But I think 11 Could sway me over to them if they did a few things different
WDBJ and Friday Football Extra blows them all away. I watch it online every week and wish we had a show like that here.
WCYB sucks on their coverage of local sports. Have you seen any one from WCYB filming any highlights of Wise, Clintwood, Burton, Appy, P.V., Richlands, or any other ones other than G.C. or local Tennessee teams? I am beginning to think they don't know their way over to this area. Conigliaro is not from here and neither are any of the other sports commentators on WCYB. Their coverage has been sorely lacking since Paul Johnson gave it up and went to FOX-Tri-cities for the news anchor.
I liek WCYB because it picture quality seems so much better. The channel 11 was good they actually showed more clips but I mainly saw TN games forgot to flip it back for the Va portion but the newscasters actuallly sounded to be interested in it
I stopped watching wcyb because they don't cover SWVA. no highlights at all from here.
WYMT (out of Hazard) usually does a pretty good job, their "Sports Overtime" segment was a good one the times I've gotten to see it. They broadcast a game of the week live every week too (TV and online broadcast). Also help to bring together some other games/tournaments in other sports, one of the bigger ones is the WYMT Mountain Classic in basketball. The championship game of that one is usually broadcast live.
Agree, beamerball. I think they do a good job. I've always wondered why there couldn't be a station put in Norton. That'd be nice to actually get local news and sports. If you want to check a score out (not that it'll be accurate) tune into WCYB. It'd be nice to have an actual "local" news station.
Was thinking about the same thing while posting that, something here in SWVA that would be brought to everyone in the area to focus mainly on SWVA. There are some already, like Heritage TV, who are least attempting to get something going. You'd think someone, with some good dedicated people and some hard work, could eventually pull it off.
WJHL is pretty good, WCYB sucks. JHL does good covering all local sports they have been out to cover my nieces volleyball several time this fall and I seen them doing soccer the other day.
For VA WCYB only covered Battle @ Gate City, George Wythe @ Chilhowie, and Holston @ Northwood Friday night.
