I was 3. Apparently it was a case of the terrible 3s.
It may be 26 more years till they win again. If you can't beat a man when he is down you can't beat him. Sorry boys in blue try again next year.
I said it the previous two years that this was Kentucky's best shot at getting a win but this year truly was the absolute best shot they have had in many many years. Kentucky is tore up with talent and Tennessee is as everyone knows using many true freshman and don't even field a full team.
Is this a post so UT fans can feel good about beating UK. And to think that UK has more talent than UT is funny. I was at the game and UK was out matched like they are every year. UK has had some pretty good teams here of late but look what they are compared to the UK teams that lost 9 and 10 games per year for decades. UK football is getting better but they are not even close to the type of football program UT has.
No need to patronize Cat fan, Kentucky and football don't go together. It is just a fact of life. 6-6 is about as good as it can get for UK considering where they play and the players they recruit.
That was my point. So why are people on here saying UK should have won because they have better talent or they are saying UT beat UK even though UK is better. Anyone that knows anyhting about college football knows that UK is not a football school, we are excited to death when we make it to a bowl, and are happy if we end up 5-7.
Not the UK fans I know. You are talking about a team that has been to what 6 straight bowls, that's not shabby. Kentucky beat the team representing the SEC East in the title game and lost on a last second field goal to the team representing the SEC West. Kentucky isn't as bad as their own fans like to make then out to be. If we were to break down the overall depth/quality at each position for each school UK would hold their own. Just as an example let's explore the QB position.
UK
Mike Hartline - 4 year senior who has thrown for close to 6,000 yards in career (3 Star)
Morgan Newton - started half a year his freshman season (3-4 star depending on recruiting service you use)
Ryan Mossakowski - redshirt freshman who was a Top 15 QB in 2009 (4 star)
UT
Tyler Bray - started the last 4 games of his freshman season (3-4 star)
Matt Simms - started the first 8 games of the year and gave up more sacks than TD's. (2-3 star)
Nash Nance - Freshman who will never see the field (2 star)
We could go position by position and UK could compete on just about everyone and even take some positions as with the QB's. The only position I see UT completely dominating is WR's.
Obviously most people know they are not a football school but NOBODY likes to lose. If you are happy with a 5-7 season that is just crazy. UT is not a basketball school but if they go 10-20 I'm not going to like it. If they finish under .500 it is a failure.
So I am not buying this "UK is not a football school so we should never beat UT crap." If that was the case then we should never beat you all in basketball either.
And to think that UT has more depth than really anyone is laughable.
Ok here goes. UK is a great football team and for UT to beat them shows how great UT football is. UK should have won that game by at least 4 TD's. UT showed how great they are by taking 25(all freshman) football palyers and beating a full roster UK team with tons a talent. Since UK has been in some top bowls in recent years shows how great UT is to have beaten them the last 26 years. If UK had half the heart that those 25 players(all freshman) from UT have they would be National Champions.
