Identification and Value of Vintage WE Tube Gear
Flickr: critical_ear's Photostream
My first post here! I'm trying to find some information on WE 142a and other WE gear pictured in the flickr link above. One of the 142's is missing the 116b amp sections. I'd like to complete it, but wondering how difficult it will be (I'm guessing very) to locate and acquire them. Perhaps I should sell and move-on.
Any advice/guidance on this and value would be most appreciated!

You don't see them come up for sale very often ! It maybe easier to find a schematic for one, and build one from scratch.I think you already surmised that though.

Value is what you can get out of it.
Even with expensive art worth millions, sometimes sells for way more or way less than appraised.
That said, nice amps!
expect anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand on eBay. Definitely offer international shipping

Those are WAY cool! My guess is they will fetch big bucks.
PP 350B and in mint condition.
too bad someone stole the input section from one.
However, that is likely for low level signals. everything you need is there for a basic line level power amp.
I'd love to hear them.

might be easier, to build your own '116b amp sections'.
then you could listen, until the originals become available.
point to point stuff, is not hard to build.

You might also do well to contact Aldo at Audio Anthology. He specializes in repair, sales and reproduction of WE gear and is very knowledgeable in this department. (Scroll down his home page for the contact details.)
Re: Identification and Value of Vintage WE Tube Gear
The point about those maybe not being needed is a good one, if they are low level preamps, just do what's necessary to hook up direct, and make up a couple blank plates to cover...Voila!...matched set.
