New Classification System Coming?

Same here. I think someone may come up with a plan, and it might even makesome sense, but I'd be surprised if it passed. What it all boils down to is that the majority of the VHSL members are happy (for the most part) with the three class system.

IMO, expanding the six-division setup to sports other than football has lessened the need for a four-class model. While I think six state champs in any sport is a bit too many given Virginia's size, it does give the smaller schools a better shot at a state title than in a four-class setup.

Think of it this way---in a four-class system, the schools who are now in Division 1 (all the Cumberland, Burton, Clintwood, etc) would most likely get lumped into a new Group A with many schools who are now Division 2 (like the ones with 500+ students). Likewise, the schools on the upper end of D2 (Gate City, Lee, etc) would get grouped in with a lot of the smaller D3 schools with around 800 students, and so on.
