Any major difference between an 902-16A and a 902-16B?
I'm looking at making a deal to try and match up a 902 driver with a tangerine phase plug and a 34852 'phragm.

I don't know the series of either my driver, or the one being offered. I do know the one I'm looking at is a 902 series 16 ohm, and has a tangerine phase plug also.
Is there a major difference between the A series and the B series in how they sound?
Would one having a loading cap, and the other a metal cover add to any differences?

The fram in my 902-16A is a 34852

With 900 series drivers ALWAYS measure the throat diameter. Many were 7/8 inch designed to mate with the 7/8 throat of the MR series horns. Others measure 1 inch even to mate perfectly with 811, 511, etc.
If you find a 900 series without a tangerine, the phase plug is missing. They all had tangerines.
Rubber tire and metal rear outer cover usually indicate the driver was purchased as a raw component, but were probably also bundled with VOT systems where the driver was not enclosed. Factory installed 900's in cabinets likely came only with the new style(spoked) loading cap over the phragm, and no protective tire on the ferrite. FWIW, where the tire is concerned, it is purely a cosmetic thing to prevent and hide chips on the edge of the ferrite. In pro/high spl apps the tire is not desirable as it traps heat within the motor.
IIRC, early 902's, possibly all "A's" have something different going on internally, i think it has to do with the amount of volume(space) between the polepiece and the inside diameter of the ferrite donut. But don't quote me on that as my affair with 902's ended a while ago, and i'm not "fresh" on them at this point.

Mine doesn't have the tire on it, but I'm having it fitted for a Hoosier Drag Radial.
