OT: Found cabinet maker in No. VA

Just wanted to put out a contact for people looking for a skilled cabinet smith in NoVA. Willing to ship within reason.

Del made me a pair of Baltic birch slant front modified 618s for a pair of ALTEC 756Bs. Very nice work. Price was friendly.

I only wanted funky raw utility cabs to spray gray but he built tower cabinets for himself that make $75,000 Italian high end speakers look bad. Fancy veneer and hand rubbed lacquer that was like a mirror. Nice.

I sent him some Altec cab lit with pics of some of the utility boxes that people might be looking for. If like me, you don't have the skills, connections, or inclination for fine carpentry, check with Del. I need a few more cabs myself.

Del is a not an Altec specialist but if you show him exactly what you want, he can do it.

This thread is borderline Spam IMHO... Your a satisfied customer ok,but if you mentioned this cabinet maker in a post that is fine..But starting a thread on it sounds like an advertisement (SPAM) and we don't do that here..Has nothing to do with Altec... You also have a contact info from another forum in which to reach him...

Altec drivers without cabs. I have several pairs of drivers sorely in need of wood.

I had a hard time finding a good cabinet maker. People offering other services and products are discussed here all the time, including cabinet sellers on ebay.

I thought over the propriety of the post and decided that it was a public service announcement. How many people on this board have loose drivers?

Of course, I will be writing up my 756B project in a thread here.

Allan, it'd be a bit of a road trip for you(or him), and this may be a little "forward" of me, but Geekstar is a fella that you need to make in person contact with since you fellas are kinda in each others distant backyards. I think you'd also enjoy the articles he's written on 2A3's, and probably several others as well.

Thanks Joe ! And Thank You for the kind PM !!!! :smile2: I know that you aren't profiting from these cabs.. But it is a business of making cabs from scratch for a profit (Business).. Something we don't allow here or on any forum for that matter... If we allow one do you see how this could quickly snowball into a Classified section ?

And your also correct that a more appropriate forum would be the Marketplace.. However as was explained to me.Todd only wants original Altec manufactured products (Cabinets,drivers,networks) there or Altec related (WE,etc.). No exceptions !

I think a more appropriate way to mention this cabinet maker is to go ahead and start your 756B thread and mention the cabinet maker in that thread.. Like how you went about selecting a specific cabinet,and or a cabinet maker... :wink2:
