Altec Lansing Large Studio Speakers - Craigslist
Altec Lansing Large Studio Speakers - Craigslist locally to me. I've tried contacting the person 3 or 4 times so far with no success. I was trying to get the details of what they were. I'm thinking probably A7 but who knows?

Re: Altec Lansing Large Studio Speakers - Craigslist
Not A7, cabinet is triangular aka corner cabinet, does look to have some sort of horn flare in front of the woofer which is an 803A, 802C on nice green 511, well i think it's a 511, hard to be sure. What i thought were the mounting ears might just be an illusion from the corner of the horn flare and mounting screw head.
Re: Altec Lansing Large Studio Speakers - Craigslist
Well, the owner says it's a 811 horn with 806 driver and 416 woofer. Matching altec crossover too. That's about all. For $1600 asking price it's all too vague and won't respond to emails for me at all. Now that I look at the picture again, it does look like a corner cabinet of some sort. Don't look my A7 pair (on the top). Wish I could find out more...

I hate it when sellers lack enough motivation to inform prospective buyers.
That sure seems to better fit the scale of an 811 horn, but that driver is definitely an 802, it's too long/deep for an 804/806, and the woofer is a split rim, you can see the screws clamping the rim to the basket. It should be an 803A as the split rims went out around the time 803B came out or even a bit before.
Nice set of green components regardless, too bad the seller isn't a bit more forthcoming about them.
Re: Altec Lansing Large Studio Speakers - Craigslist
I'd pass at 1600. I suspect home made cabs, so the value is components, with careful shopping could do better. And build modern tuned boxes, likely better than decades old homebrew efforts. 1200 would be a lot more reasonable, not sure i would even pay that.

Yep, I agree. It's just too much money for what's there. That's why I was trying to get a response to see if I could negotiate a better deal. Nice stuff but I know I could piece the same thing together at a lower price with patience and careful shopping. If I were going to spend that kind of money, I would be more inclined to go with new GPA components. Sure they wouldn't have the vintage coolness factor but I'd know they were all new and wouldn't need any work, etc. I guess the owner will just have to keep them. Something must be funny or someone would have gotten them by now. The ad has been on there for about 2 weeks now. The seller obviously don't know exactly what they have; only a general idea. I knew something wasn't right after repeated attempts and no replies...
Re: Altec Lansing Large Studio Speakers - Craigslist
The 803A has a paper hinge cone, correct? I had a pair once. Not the most desireable in my mind.
People tend to see Altec, look at asking prices on ebay, and go from there.
I would balk at $500 for the set, unless it's some way cool old Altec cabinet.
