They've been posted here before...... or maybe on AK. They look horrible to me. The finish looks like Formica.
Yeah, I'm not buying them. What's the deal with this (mis)statement i.e FACTORY CUT/BUTYL RUBBER?

The factory did cut the bracing and add rubber where they cut to eliminate resonance. And the guy said they have formica on the horn front.
I don't think they look bad at all.
The most offensive thing about them to me is being upside down. While they're not what i would ever envision as a final result for myself, they do indeed look good, they're clean and that goes a long way.
I don't think the price is bad at all, less VOT has recently sold for more on the bottom of the bay. Heck, several pairs of 416 A and 8A have recently sold in excess of 600.
N8500's, 511's, GPA'd 807's with aluminum phragms, 416-8A's.................................. gettin pretty close to 1200 in parts.

Perhaps it is an acceptable compromise in the Magnificent versions(and probably other circumstances too), but i'll take my whipped cream on top please.:D
Definitely not a look i would choose. But consider that WAF thing you see male domestic servants talk about on other forums. The dictator of those premises are more likely to accept those than your typical industrial gray box likely sporting 4 or 5 decades of battle scars and screen overspray.Quote:

Well, I guess you learn something every day. The main reason I posted these is because I had never heard that Altec cut the "horn vanes" on 511b horns and filled them with a butyl rubber. Did they ever do that with 811b's?Quote:
