I'm guessing that's circa 1951-1953. Note that the description on the 700A Melodist specifies "special 10 inch speaker". That's the 756 they're referring to i'm pretty sure.
I especially like the picture of "Dad" on the last page. He looks so 'hip' what with his pipe, leaning on the A7, man why couldn't I have had a Dad like that? ;)
Very expensive equipment indeed for the early 1950's. Altec was a rich man's product. Certainly a classic case of "You get what you pay for".
I thought the 511 came out before the 811 until I saw that catalog, but I guess the 511 was a further development of the 811, instead of vice versa.
I always liked the Voice of the Highway ad... A pair of A7's in the back of a convertible is Priceless ! :cool2:
