Last sunday I was bored so I drove down to the 133, Laguna Canyon Road, in southern Cali. About a 10 mile stretch fo twisties going down thru the canyons to pacific coast highway. as I'm merging onto the 133, a semi raised ford ranger is going about the same speed as me. the lane is merging into one about 50 yards or so. So i drop into 3rd, ride it up until 85mph or so and barely beat the ranger for the first spot with nothing but open highway infront of us. to make a long story short, I had him in the turns cause I could accelerate thru the turns and he couldn't. however he would close the gaps on the straightaways. but i had enuf to hold him off on two different passing areas. very dangerous I know, and I'll never do it again, but adrenaline got the best of me. sorry for the long post, never understood why people apologize for them but whatever. I need to tighten up the backend somehow cause i did have slight roll trying to hold my line. I also need a swap soon.

Yea 9 times outta 10 I won't bother to race on the street, besides once you've gone track racing and realize you can never go that fast on the street, the helps to http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
BUT today I made my exception. There is a kid that goes to my school with a 5th gen hatch, pretty hooked up on the outside (ground effects, hood with some odd scoop, dropped, had wheels in the summer, etc). Thing that gets me about this car is a GSR "DOHC vtec" badge on the backside, and sticker on the dash sayin the same thing. I was willing to bet B16 at least, the car doesn't look like something that would pack a larger engine or anything like induction (all stock gauges).
Anywho i always see him in the morning on the way to school like the last 4 miles before i get there. Bunchs of times we've both been alone, and never done anything to provoke the other. Till today. I was goin up a hill, the road is about 3/4 mile long and pretty twisty. I heard him drop it, but then he'd not really stay on it that long. He seemed to have a little more topend, unless i was already on it. Thing was at the speed he was moving we were too fast for 2nd and too slow for 3rd. Heck I almost over-revved tryin to grab 2nd just so i could keep with him when he dropped it. Overall, I was kinda ticked about the slowing down, speedin up deal. He could get a better jump, but once I was up in my RPMs things weren't too bad. Next time...i'm goin first...in the turns he was nothing i couldn't handle http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
