Alright!
This might be a harder one for you engine monkeys http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif. I need to hook up a switch board of a sort to a power connection of some sort, first thing that came to mind,! Battery! (ino im a genious) ANYWAYS Is there anywhere else i can hook this up to? BTW!
PS. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif Im hooking up one of those fake alarm lights, it says wire to the ignition, where is there a place I can wire it to my ignition? THX!

You could hook it up to the battery, or you could splice it into an existing power wire. To find the right wire, you just need a multi-meter, use that and find out which wire(s) is hot when you want it to be, im assuming this would be when the car is off. Also, theres some bare pin connectors on the fuse box just under the steering column, this is where i hooked up the wires for my headlight buzzer, so instead of having to splice into wires you might wanna try using those. Good luck.

Good idea Ben..also the yellow wire on the back of your radio is constant hot for the memory in the radio. Not sure if if would hold the load however.
I always tap right into the fuse block. They sell little taps for ATO style fuse blocks at like Wal-Wart. The other option is to stuff the wire directly into one side of the fuse socket and then stuff the fuse in after it. You have an array of options there so you can get power for a constant hot, or a hot when only the key is on etc,etc.

Yeah I always just tap into the fuse box. If you have a multimeter or something turn the key off and see which open spot is still hot. That'll definitly hold the load if you can find an open fuse that's always hot. I'd say the clock or radio line that they suggested would take the load too, led's use very little power.

You don't really have to worry about drawing too much current with one LED. Unless it's some sort of Super Led, it doesn't even need the full 12v, and you could always hook up a resistor on the + terminal to avoid a current overload.

Well guys, good ideas, but not exactly right. The clock and the radio is not such of a good idea. Both these accessories are fused for themselves and will not be enough curre3nt for both. Sure you could get away with it, but why not do it right. The best thing to do is run a wire from your battery.(fused of corse) The second best thing would be the car's 12v power sorce at the ignition. This can be found when you pop off the plastic cover under your steering wheel, look for two harnesses that go to the column. The one that has three or four LARGER wires will be the wires that you need to check for 12v constant.(POWEREd all the time) The third option as someone has said is empty fuse holders on your in-car fuse box.
