if the battery is not dead, it should at least turn the starter and try to start. if the alternator were bad and the battery was good, it would drain the battery down and quit that way. if it doesn't even try to turn over i would think it's more likely something like the ignition or main relay.

Clean battery connections. Clean where the negative cable attaches to ground. It can also be a cable failing inside (breaking or corrosion) the insulation. I've had all these things happen to me.
If your battery is still charged it's not the alternator.

my battery was almost dead. since i first posted that we got a battery charger over here. charged the battery back up and now the car is starting.

the battery tried to died but, the good ol' orbital was keeping the alarm alive and the stereo deck powered. just not enough to start the car.
it's a good thing this car is a Si and not a DX or it would of been in the river by now (LOL)

time to get out the voltmeter!!! check the voltage at idle and make sure it's not dropping down. you can take the alternator to an autoparts store and let them do a check on it to see if it's good or bad. don't worry, the hardest part about changing the alternator is getting it out of the car http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif i hope you don't need to pull the master cylinder to get it out.

yup, it was the alternator. got a new one for $95. that was so easy to change. i didn't even have to get my hands dirty http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif. i was afraid it was gonna be a huge mission like it was to change the alternator in the 88 Accord.
wa-hoo! i am so happy my car is starting again. jer ended up taking the day off. the alternator went so fast he had some spare time and so we dug out my enkei's and slammed the car back down http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif.
now if only the weather would hold up for a couple of days so we can paint the car!!!

my car was bogging down yesterday and acting all suspect. this morning it won't start. it's acting like a dead battery (won't even try to turn over) but, the battery isn't dead.
