I'm trying to find out how practical or difficult it is to do an engine and tranny swap on an automatic car? Is it really a lot of trouble? A ZC w/ tranny, axles, ECU, etc.. then change the pedals, shifter... add a tach or change the whole cluster... I am just thinking about it. Anyone gone through this swap? I want manual now.
Hmm, I think ZC and B16As came with auto in Japan. Is an auto ZC even worth it? In Vancouver I've seen one B16A swap in an EG that's automatic.
So I am just wondering if it's okay to change the auto tranny to manual, since my car is in very good shape (only 70,000 Km on it) or if it's better to buy an Si that would not be in as good shape and do a swap with that.
Here are some pics of my car now. Let me know what you think. I just started modding it this year, so not much yet. Next I plan to lower it. I was never much into flashy bodykits and stuff. I hope to have a "stock looking" sleeper in the future.

nice car, it sort of looks like mine. (minus the SIR rims)
but a tranny swap isnt as hard as some shops say. NC_Rex and others here has helped me find out a lot of info on it and you can find all the parts you need at your local wreck yard. Im actually doing a sohc vtec swap this spring and putting a manual tranny from a 4th gen civic (si). In Toronto, i got a quote for around 1800 for a zc motor, zc tranny, teg ecu and all the parts for the tranny swap, which i think is a great price. It saves a lot of hassle looking for the parts yourself.

Mmmm...I like the Si rims....and your engine bay is CLEAN!!!!
CWBETB has done the auto to manual swap when he put in a ZC. When he sees this message I am sure he will provide you some details. Auto ZCs or b16s may be OK, because it generally means they weren't beat to crap since they were attached to auto trannys...they tend to be in better shape, from what I hear, in comparison to a same mileage manual engine.

4-doors kick butt & I in a quandry about that ZC! Woo hoo...it looks like things are going to work out! Yippee...I can smell the oil and grease from the ZC now! :)

NICE clean solid looking car. Definatly keep it nad do the tranny swap, it's not that bad, and if you don;t fell comfortalbe doing it, any shop that do a swap should be able to do it.
I was going to do one on an auto CRX i had, but i sold the car.

The auto manual swap is very expensive, 3,000 it cost me for the engine swap/conversion.
