The new Sony MD will allow you to go from mini-disc to computer I believe.
However, old MD won't do this as they use some sort of weird compression and only allow analog input and output.
Whatcha you want to do is just plug a cord into the output on the MD and into the input on the computer... It's analog but the sound quality will still be aces.
Ohh thats wat I thought. But its gonna be real time.... 100 mins of audio = 100 mins recording.
Did anyone use this thing:

It works like an external HD, and it has audio in. It should be all right?
No, it is not true...You can buy adaptors that will let you transfer MD audio through USB. I have a Sony MD, and I bought this little tiny adaptor and mic from www.minidiscaccess.com for about $120. The mic was about $90 though. Just go there and do some research.
I had one of the first MD players i was able to transfer to my Mac via SimpleSound(bundled free with OS9) and able to record at 48khs.
plugged it in via the audio jack.
I'm on OSX now and not needed to do it since upgrading to OSX.
anyhow your probably on a PC and I'm wasting my time.
my NetMD transfers from my pc TO the minidisc... but not vice versa. They don't allow you to transfer files from the minidisc to your pc on mine for copyright purposes. This might have changed in the newer models.
I borrowed the MD from my friend. I just connected the audio out to my audio card, and recorded it as it played, in real time.
THe cool part about the MD is when you are recording, you can hear live sound in the headphones, but it only works in one of them.... which makes sense. When I transfer it to PC, it makes it "stereo".
portable Net MDs don't have optical out, and usb transfer back to PC is disabled. pick up a proper deck with optical out on it, and you'll be fine. nothing wrong with capping via analogue.. but digital is.. digital. less to mess up
