There is a certain type of song I love, but don't know how to describe it. The only examples I can think of right of the top of my head are:
Head On-by Jesus and the Mary Chain
I Love You-by Ratcat
maybe, to a lesser extent:
Green Cell Grey-Ned's Atomic Dustbin
Baby Boom-Star Star
what would this type of song be described as, and can somebody give me some other examples of songs that are similar?
Since it's not really a glam type, I'm kinda out of my element here, but love this type of tune.

Actually, the song by Ratcat is called "That Ain't Bad", not "I Love You"

Kinda funny, while searching, I came acroos this, which includes 2 of the tx I just mentioned, but the others on this comp that I know, aren't what I'm looking for.
Anyway, I guess "Alernative Anthems" might be the label you could give it.
They must have a driving beat, and a damn catchy chorus to be included.

Naw Raggz, I get what Dan is saying. I would agree with Alternative Anthems. They are the songs that don't really fit with the rest of the bands style, and are REALLY upbeat and aggressive songs. They were the "one hit wonders" in the Alternative scene, the songs you heard on the radio and went "HELL YEAH" and then bought the albums and said "WTF?".
"Venus" from Gwen Mars comes to mind. The whole album is great, but that song is in the category you are talking about for sure.

If I get what Carl is saying, I liked Inside by Stiltskin but the album was shit.

Actually, I think Carl is on the right track. I went through a bit of an alternative phase here in the early 90's, so I listened to a ton of alternative, and college alternative. Most of the bands albums weren't that great, and I've gone back and made a decent alternative comp....but this is somehow a different type.
Have you guys heard "That Ain't Bad" by Ratcat?
If you listen to that and "Head On" by J&tMC then I think you might understand what I mean. I tried to find MP3's for you guys, but failed.
I will check out the 2 songs that were mentioned to see if they are what I mean.

OK, Stiltskin...no.
Gwen Mars.....pretty close.
Another song that I can think of that almost fits is "Common People" by Pulp. Love that tune!
