If I was to get it, I'd get the completely extended version, with everything in it [img]wink.gif[/img] I have no idea what's out there but I like the fact that you geta little figure of Gollum as well [img]smile.gif[/img]

I've got both version of both films (FOTR & TTT) but that's only b/c I'm too impatient to wait for the extended editions to come out. But, if I were you, and speaking from a LOTR geek's viewpoint [img]wink.gif[/img] *g*, I'd get the extended editions every time. You get (most of) the extra footage that was cut for the theatrical release PLUS 2 extra discs with loads of supplementary material on them, such as how they designed Middle Earth, the creature workshops, the costumes etc. etc. They sound tedious but take it from me that they're anything but. They really are very, very interesting.
Dunno about the little Gollum figure though. [img]confused.gif[/img] I didn't get one with my copy. [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img] *wahhhh*
I've got both, of both films. ^_^ Theatrical version, which is the one that you see at the cinema, and the extended version, which basically adds 45 minutes + to each movie, and is how the films were supposed to be (they were only really cut for time). I have both versions because a) I want to be thorough and b) the theatricals come out before the extendeds, and I never want to wait a few months before owning them. The EEs are definitely worth it (though I would say that wouldn't I? *g*) and they come with fantastic extras and nice packaging too. [img]smile.gif[/img] I'm a geek, but I don't care [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Oh btw, the Gollum figure package thing was released just before Christmas, as a ploy to get people to buy it more. (Not that they needed one!! *lol*) In a box set type thingy. So I don't have that, because I already had the EE then.

I want the extended editions of these DVD's too but I've just had a look on Amazon and there's so many different versions, it's confusing [img]confused.gif[/img]

If you go here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...944782-8906050 , I have the first 2 extended editions (FOTR in the green box set and TTT in the red). I think that the other sets listedc are basically the same discs but that they have 'freebies' with them like Ivana's Gollum figure and the Argonath book-ends - stuff like that. I could be wrong though so I hope that Sam can verify this. [img]smile.gif[/img]
