well this board seems to have died a bit lately... maybe this will liven things up.
over at X-Fan they are creating new character bios. as long as you let Eric know beforehand, he says it's cool to submit your own bio. I say we create the ULTIMATE Nightcrawler bio! every little factoid, nuance of his many powers, and appearances we as a collective group can come up with! whadda ya say?
they are only up to 'B' so far so we have plenty of time to write one...

The marvel bio is a decent summation, not saying to copy it, but you do need to leave it not lenghty. Otherwise a lot people will not read it.
Appearances. Check out the Marvel Comic Chronology project, they have appearances for most of the Marvel chars.
Major Villians: Arcade, Belesco. The only two who he has fought on a few occasions solo.

I guess you could add "N-Men (Leader)" under group affiliations. And I'm with you Nocturne, as long and detailed as possible (sorry BC). I'll add more as I think of it.

Education:
I'd have to see what is listed for the other X-Men, since being an X-Man also means getting an education at Xaviers. We might also mention his circus training, fencing knowlege, his ability to speak Latin, his limited medical training, and his mechanical skills
Other distinguishing features: Covered with short blue fur, pointed fangs, pointed ears, 3 1/2 foot long prehensile tail, 3 fingered hands, 2 toed feet, opposeable thumb-like toes on the heals.
Limited Invisibility - The same dimensional field that allows Nightcrawler to teleport also absorbs and distorts light, making him apear to be in shadows even in bright light, and making him nearly invisible in deep shadows.

I agree about keeping the history short and sweet for this project, but we can make a more comprehensive one for www.Nightcrawer.info (if we're still doing that...)

ok, can't make this too long, i'm at school, but anyway... till the teacher sees me hehehe...
Arcade and Belasco, yup i can see those for sure. we may have to wait a bit longer to see about this but should we perhaps list the Supreme Pontiff? what about Mystique considering she is his mother as well? Archangel has the Mauraders listed as a major enemy, if he does, so should Nighty.
as for length, perhaps we should use some characters who have been around as long as Nighty for comparisons sake and aim for something approaching that length, so far the only 3 posted that could compete would be Archangel, Banshee and Beast... they are all pretty damn long, atleast 2-3 times as long as thier bios at marvel.com (tho, with bits copied almost straight form the marvel bio) but by the nature of his powers Nightcrawlrs takes more explaining since he has several, and he also has a much more screwed up family, so i think his may end up being a bit longer no matter what...
anyway for comparison/inspiration here is Beast http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/forums/s...&threadid=1121
Banshee - http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/forums/s...&threadid=1105
Archangel - http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/forums/s...&threadid=1025
and, to get us started, here is the bio form marvel's website what shall we add, if anything? i don't feel right jsut copying it... but we can re-word things i guess

History: Kurt Wagner has resembled a demon in appearance since birth, but his powers of self-teleportation did not emerge until puberty. His unusual physical characteristics -- including indigo-colored fur, a prehensile tail, pointed ears, fang-like canine teeth, three-fingered hands and two-toed feet -- caused Kurt's mother to abandon her newborn son. Pursued by fearful villagers, she threw him over a waterfall to save her own life.
Margali Szardos, a sorceress and gypsy queen, discovered Kurt less than an hour after his birth in a small roadside shelter in the Bavarian Alps and brought him to the traveling circus at which she worked as a fortuneteller. Kurt was raised by a motley crew of circus performers, who bore no prejudice against so-called "freaks," and Margali acted as his foster mother. His two closest friends were her natural children, Stefan and Jimaine. Long before his mutant talent emerged, Kurt demonstrated tremendous natural agility. By adolescence, he had become the show's star acrobat and aerial artist. Audiences assumed he was a normal human wearing a demon-like costume.
Years later, a Texas millionaire who sought to cast Kurt in his American freak show purchased the Bavarian circus. Appalled, Kurt made his way to Winzeldorf, Germany, where his foster brother was living. But Stefan had gone mad and slain several children, and Kurt confronted him in an attempt to end his rampage. During the struggle that ensued, the young mutant unintentionally broke Stefan's neck. When the villagers discovered Kurt, he was assumed to be some sort of demon, responsible for the murders. The townspeople were about to kill him when they were psionically paralyzed by Professor Charles Xavier, who had come to recruit Wagner into the X-Men -- his team of masked, mutant adventurers.
Hated and feared for his strange powers and frightening appearance, Nightcrawler stood with his teammates in opposition to those who would use their genetic gifts to subjugate humanity. As an X-Man, Kurt learned to teleport multiple times in a few seconds, allowing him to attack foes from unexpected directions with uncanny accuracy. On rare occasions, he could teleport more than one person at a time, but it strained him tremendously. When the weather-manipulating Storm lost the use of her mutant abilities for a short period, Nightcrawler was designated leader of the X-Men.
After most of the X-Men appeared to die in battle, Nightcrawler teamed with the phase-shifting Shadowcat, his teammate and good friend; the time-tossed, telepathic Phoenix II; the shape-changing mutant known only as Meggan; and the mystically empowered Captain Britain, chosen protector of the United Kingdom. This unlikely quintet formed Excalibur, England's premiere squad of costumed champions. Captain Britain led Excalibur in name; in reality, the task fell to Nightcrawler, due to the other hero's incompetence. Even after it was discovered that otherworldly forces had blocked Captain Britain's ability to be a team player, Nightcrawler remained leader.
Excalibur disbanded following the wedding of Captain Britain and Meggan, and Nightcrawler rejoined the X-Men. Always a devout Catholic, Kurt later left the team to enter the priesthood. Subsequently, Nightcrawler returned to the X-Men with a renewed commitment to Professor Xavier's dream of human and mutant coexistence.

As someone said ealier the Marauders would definetly be an arch enemy, specifically Riptide. Also I would put in somewhere that Kurt spent several months in a coma, a life altering event. Remember when we first see Kurt in the Exacalibur paperback Kurt is trying to kill himself. (working out in Moira's "danger room" with no safety's)

Actually that is what kitty accused him of, its not what he was trying to do. Anyone at home and have a copy handy?
One thing to think about, regardless of the size the bio will turn out. Break up Kurt's life into chunks, then diff people/teams can contribute and the task wont seem so huge.
Didn't know he could read Latin. Cool, was that revealed in Excaliber?

The Latin was in one of the annuals... I'm not sure which one. I can't find any of my stuff any more. It was the one where Excalibur got sent back in time and set up in fights against the original five X-Men. It was just a lame plot device, I thought. Kurt said something like "days as a Catholic schoolboy paying off" and we all know that's pure bull. It was just a convenience so he could understand Hank the Mighty Gladiator or whatever it was.
He actually said he was "testing himself" when Kitty accused him of trying to kill himself. Do or die, kinda thing.

I loved that issue, I forgot he spoke latin to Beast. It was great seeing the two of them in combat with swords. Plus it also marked an early Mad story, which I happen to be a fan.
It wasn't an annual, but a special one shot. In the vein of "Air Apparent" or "The Possesion".
