Darcy?

Hi, I'm new to this board so I'm not sure if this has ever been asked before, but...

I was just browsing a list of names and I discovered that in Gaelic, "Darcy" means "Dark One."

Was this deliberate, or is it one of those fortuitous coincidences?

i know David means beloved. hmmmm.

I thought of that while I was puttering around.

Francine is a feminized form of Francis. Francis, though, means "free."

Katina means either "pure" or "unsullied."

So, at least at face value, without getting into some deep contextual analysis (and arguing over the "true natures" of the two characters) I'd have to guess those names were unintended. Until I'm told otherwise @:)
