Well, today took me a while to be able to read this last issue, and haven't had a chance to be online yet..
Very well done, Terry. It gave us new insight, it made an easier work load for you, gave us some laughs and just makes us die for the next issue.. I likes!
First of all...Yer name is Thomas?!
Second. I was extremely angry when I first started reading and realized that this was gonna be a 'fun' issue of sorts. No big development to the 'current' storyline, tho I use the word current real loosely. AND to boot it was about.. Freddy. But after reading, I couldn't help but laugh, feel a lil sad, and see a new side of Freddy that up until now I've missed.. You've made me care for a moron.. that takes talent!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
Your cameo was indeed interesting http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif Don't see why ye were so rough on yerself, tho.. loved having the bear and kixie sort of appear inside of the comic.. unfortunately, I left my issue at work, and can't peruse it to comment on the other things that interested me, so I have to go by memory here.
The last shot of Freddy going into the apartment and the place being completely empty and him just looking at the picture... well.. *sniff*.. that was touchin'. I didn't like some of the rabbit's remark.. don't know the rabbit's job in there, to begin with, but I'm sure all I need is to re-read it all..
As always, well done.. but #40 better be in time so we can get back to the real story!!!!! or else, you'll have to feel real guilty once I eat a bucket of ice cream cuz of depresion.. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
what did y'all think?

That was a dirty trick Terry.
Making ol' Freddy out to be such a useless @$$#*!&, and then show us that he's really just as messed up and miserable as the rest of the gang, just that his manifests in a different way. I remember waaaay back in I Dream of You, when he and Chuck are talking, and Chuck tell's Freddie 'That's when she met you', I really felt for Freddy, and thought he wasn't the shallow 2d character he was portrayed as. Well, that feeling passed with subsequent issues, but now I see that I was right to feel for the guy.
Never telling us about the father and mother situation was a mean trick to make us hate Freddy and now we have to feel bad for hating him, because he's just as damaged as the other characters we love. Makes me feel better for the rare times when I'd get the wierd feeling that I wanted to identify with the loser.
When you do something like this, I get a big smile cause it's just another reason to back up my assertion that you are 'the real deal' when it comes to comic story telling.

Yeah, how could he?! How could Terry make us feel sympathy for such a "loser"?
I still don't like the sheep but I can now see where he's coming from. And I understand why he acts the way he does.
Still my favorite part of this whole issue were all the cameos of Snoopy, Pogo and Terry, himself.
I don't know why but the last panel with "Hobo Terry" sitting there looking at his destroyed works made me want to cry.
I'm a sap, I know it. But I found it so sad.
Almost as sad as Freddy in the vacant flat scene.
Anyone else?

Freddy Femurs...parodies of Peanuts, Pogo, and ("Paige"?) and Calvin....*said like Bugs Bunny*: Love it, Loooooove IT!.....Is Paige supposed to mean Beth Paige or something? It seemed you,Terry, were going for an Archie look in that sequence. The drawing in the parodies had alittle o' the artists emulated, alittle Terry Moore in it. Is that intentional, like the way Dave "Punchy" Sim did with his parodies in Guys (drawn like the characters look, but through the Sim prism, particularly the Very Vicky character)? Anyway, I remember a while back, someone saying how Freddie was unfairly demonized, not more fully written. I felt that wasn't entirely true, since his pining for Fran showed some humanity in our favorite jerk. This shows up in spades here, and while an all-jerk Freddie is OK w/ me, I really liked how he was further fleshed out.

Well, I finally plucked up the courage to post on this board. Hi, my names Derek and I've read everything up to the current issue but only recently started buying it. Spent about 2 weeks reading all the back issues. Hmm, work went outta the window ;-)
Anyways, just bought and read issue #39. I laughed so hard I nearly choked on my lunch. Poor Freddy, it does kinda make you feel sorry for him doesn't it? Great issue Terry.
Only found out about the cameo by reading the lettercol. Dunno why I didn't get it earlier. Reading to fast again, I s'pose.
Hey, anyone else notice Harry Potter in the classroom scene? Or am I going totally mad?
Page 7 I think.

welcome newbie!! yup I noticed Harry(check out "review the current Issue") Don't ever let anyone tell you Harry Potter is just for kids(they obviously didn't read it... or they did and it was too complicated for them... ;-P ) it's like saying all comics are for kids... and I hope that we're all living proof to the contrary... although I'm still a kid at heart.
Glad you like the series, hope we hear more from you.

I noticed that Harry Potter in this issue looked like David. I assume that was on purpose. Cool.

first off flatline, welcome to SiP. have some oreos and please come back often. theres plenty of people here who like the same stuff as you..
that said, im gonna contradict. i thought this issue was the worst in a long time. anybody know how to say "filler issue". great, now i know more about freddy. i care about him, sure, in the same way that i care about calvins mom, or one of woodstocks nameless friends. i read SiP for Katchoo, Francine and David. i was extremely disappointed by this issue, especially since we are left with absolutely NO clue what will happen next. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif i still love Terry (if youre reading this, really, i do Terry) and SiP, but this was the latest in a long string of happiness with the book... and now i have to wait a whole six weeks to eat my words as i'm sure he will make me. (heres to hoping...)

Yeah, I'm 22 next week and I CERTAINLY don't think Harry Potter is for kids. I have all four books that are out and think that they are getting more mature as they progress.
Hands up all those here who are going to see the film this autumn??

Welcome Flatline! I made Tamales they're freash and hot, have some with your oreos.
Harry Potter Rules!!
Well, I can't comment on the issue cause I read the Trades but I'm intrieged(sp?) by Oz's comments and may have to get #39. I will say this... We already knew Freddie was "F"ed up. Anyone who behaves the way he does HAS to be very fragile mentally and emotionally. So, i hope I don't pitty him after reading this issue. Frankly I don't care why he's the way he is. He makes for great ass kicking scenes with Katchoo and that's always good entertainment.
