Thank you for your work
Thank you for your smile, the outgoing walk to the car
that elipse between your step
and blue heels
that wide smile
and the dust on the street

which all of us are sweeping

which all of us are sweeping
Thank you for your heart felt thanks
your heart felt sympathies
your grandiose donations
and chocolates
and cards about the mother
the save our children streets
this and all our t-shirts

wadded up and waiting in the corner
wanting to smile
walking down Sir King Apollo Boulevard
all dressed for Church on Tuesday night
wherever we are eating

it ought to be filled with meat
and our left-overs
and our hidden road behind the apartment
a place where we forget
the things we've always done
and don't we do anymore

Thank you for your work
