I finally got around to hooking up the TPS relay trick on my car. It works as advertised. At 1 psi on my boost gauge my a/f gauge indicates a steady, rich 1-2 green LED's. When I mash the pedal, it'll go to the normal 3-4 green LED's. I took my car for a test run up this long hill that I usually start to climb in 4th but have to downshift to 3rd to avoid partial throttle detonation. The results were nice. I was able to climb the full length of the hill at partial throttle in 4th gear with no audible ping. Normally, I would have to downshift to 3rd even if I was flooring it in 4th either because the car would loose oomph! or it would start to ping. Now I don't get either...yippee! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I even got to dust a Laser RS turbo (FWD) while out test driving my car. I highly recommend this simple trick to everyone. something that might interest some of you guys... Hondata has released some roms that run open loop only. I will be testing a rom with closed loop disabled this week. I can't wait because i had the same problem with my turbo system.

Why would you want to run open loop all the time? You'd be running rich constantly. This would cause your mileage to hit the toilet, your emissions to skyrocket, and I doubt running rich all the time can be all that good for your O2 sensor.

if your running open loop, you SET your fuel tables and they are static. There is not 1 aftermarket EFI system that uses closed loop to my knowledge. there's no way to get a good tune when the ecu is reading the stock o2 sensor, it's just not accurate. hondata is releasing gsr and civic unit's in the extreame near future too.

just to clear this up, im not sure if you thought i was inferring disabling closed loop on the stock ecu. that would be insaine. disabling it with 100% fuel table adjustability is a different story, it just always reads the input tables.

Hmmm...well let's wait and see how much it'll cost. For now, this TPS trick works awesome!!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif What I'd really like is something cheap to remove the speed limiter on my car. The idea of paying $280+ for a Field vtec controller just to get rid of the speed limiter is stupid. I want some low cost "trick" like this TPS trick to get rid of the limiter.
