the casting of the manifold is not very good. im going to put on the charger in a week or so, and was wondering how JR can send out a manifold that is really rough inside.it looks o.k.,but the quality looks a little rough, can i use a dremmel to smooth out the inside of the chambers a little? or would this cause a problem,im not triying to knock the supercharger, but man, this thing looks pretty rough compared to my stock manifold, does the internal chambers of the stock manifold look like the JR chambers ?
i just want this thing to perform to the best of it's ability.thank you for any help you can provide.

I agree, the quality control at JR isn't up to par on the intake manifold. I used a dremel like you stated and smoothed out the ports. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif

As I've said before the JRSC is a piece of crap.

Yeah i've had a bad experience with the Jackson Racing casting too. I had a crack in the intake manifold and had to yank the whole setup off and put another one on.

how did you know there was a crack in the manifold? wuz it a hairline crack that you could see? do you think it was there before you put it on or after from heat or something?thanks

Same problem with the manifold. I've had mine for about a year and already have a nice long-ass crack steming from the driver-side rear bolt up to the top of the manifold. I gotta take the whole thing apart now. Lame!

The first generation intake manifold cracked because it was machined not cast, and this produced extra stress points that later failed and made the very popular crack on the back. Jackson Racing has shipped new ones for free to those with problems.

Too "smooth" in the intake track does NOT promote good atomization... now, there is a point where you can be too rough, but I have not seen a JR intake in that kind of shape. (Now, if we could just remove those two casting columns inside near the #2 and #3 cylinders...). This is why Sport Compact Car got NO HORSEPOWER gain from ExtrudeHone work on the goosneck and intake manifold of the JR kit.
Cautious Dremel work couldn't hurt... but it really isn't necessary.

Boy. I guess I'll run my JB Welded manifold as long as it holds out and then have a fresh one to install. The new one they sent me looks pretty good.
