Anybody have plans for the Magnificents?
I'm building A-7's. Roger113 sent me two pairs of horn flairs he got from the Magnificents. Thank you Roger. They differ a bit from the ones for the A-7's. I think there is a filler in the Magnificents that goes from the flair to the cabinet front. A drawing would be of help.

Thank you GM. But not exactly. The Magnificent flares terminate, on the outside, in a flat plate. They do not continue to the edge. You can see this, kind of, here:

The width of the termination is 2-1/4".

They are a bit shorter than the flares on the A-7. I think the solution is to make a solid filler that continues the flare from the flat termination forward to the front edge of the cabinet sides. That would produce the A-7 flare length while maintaining the 8" opening at the narrow end of the horn.
Further news: Roger advises that the Magnificent's that sourced the flares were 20.75" deep.
Interesting! I thought/assumed the A7-500W-II Magnificent variant was basically the same as the original except for driver/XO components, which are skinned A7-500: http://www.lansingheritage.org/image...ome/page17.jpg
Amazing that Altec would bother to do all that to make them a few inches less deep, so guessing it was more about weight reduction, which begs the question; when were Roger's made? Prior to ~ 1974, size, weight in the consumer premium lines of 'anything' wasn't much of a buying factor.

Wow, I also didn't realize the Magnificent is different than a regular 828 cab.
There are a couple of things that need to be taken into account on the Magnificents. There is a walnut trim strip on each side at the front, which is beveled (sort of like a continuation of the horn shape) that is about 1 5/6 inches thick. There there is the wooden grill, which is about 5/16ths thick (made in Japan, so maybe a metric number in reality). The grill is attached to the front trim, and the horn components tied into that combination. The cabinets may be the same, but these trim details space everything back from the front a bit.
Just installing an updated OS, so camera not working quite yet. I will post a pic as soon as I get it going....

Perfect. It looks like the original was a picture frame molding, flat sided, meeting the old horn flare. Piece of cake.
